Hey everyone,

I'm currently in the market for a new GPU. Going to intially be doing 1080p gaming but may be looking to switch to 1440p if I can find a new monitor. I want to be able to max most titles. Really having a difficult time deciding between cards. The 770 really looks like it would be a great card but I am a little concerned about the 2gb vram. While price isn't really an issue I do not want to over spend too much. I have been drawn to the 780 HOF now because it looks like it might last a little longer. If the 780 will last a year longer it would be worth it to me. Any suggestions?

Current set up is
seasonic 650w m12 psu
8gb corsair vengence
corsair 400r
WD black 2 tb
500 gb samsung pro ssd
I5 4670k
Asus Z87-A
H212 and 5 low profile case fans

At 1080p 2gb is a fine amount. 1440p you may need the 3gb of the 7970 and 780.
My answer to your question: wait for maxwell or the amd 9000 series.
If you don't want to wait, i would get the 770 if you are sticking with 1080p. 780 is overkill for 1080p. BTW 780 hof is a great card. but be warned it takes up 3 pci slots. it takes up 2 slots of the case but blocks another because of the large heatsink.

Are there any 770s that you would specifically recommend? I would prefer a card that is already OCed but could be increased a little further. Its looking like the MSI lightning is a good choice.

Well, I own a gtx 780 and at 1080p which is the resolution im gaming at now its a bit overkill and looking into gaming in 1440p soon i would recommend the gtx 780 then possible sli which would give you more then a gtx 690 performance in the future and knowing nvidia the prices will drop nicely due to countering amds release on the 9000 series. Another option which people would recommend is 2x 780s which would trade blows with a 780/titan and its cheaper but at 1440p you will benefit more with the 2x 780s
