What IT certifications should I get first?

Hello,

I recently graduated with a B.S in Information Technology. Unfortunately I've yet to obtain any certifications. Everyone keeps telling me that certifications are just as important as a degree when looking for an entry level IT position.

Can anyone suggest a few? Preferably I would like to start with something relatively easy and work my way up.

Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

Certifications are good to show you learned something, then again there are plenty of hacks out there that don't know their ass from a hole in the ground that have their CCNA, MCSE, etc. and a masters in computer science. I ran into plenty of that......If I were you I would get a job in the field ASAP and see if they will pay for your certs... I have none and have been in the business for 12 years and wish I had a few.

Don't be a fool and get a job waiting tables till your are hired in your dream job....STICK TO YOUR FIELD!!!

Get your A+ first! It will get you comfortable to understand the cert process.....

Go for A+ > CCNA > MCSE > any flavor of virtualization
