Hey All, I hope someone can help me. last year i let one of my friends take my WD 500GB portable hard drive and in an incident he had at home, the drive was thrown off the bed. since then ive considered it a lost cause, although I still hold on to it just in case.

The device powers up, and starts rotating making some sounds, and in some cases my pc recognizes the drive, opens it up and lets me see my files, but thats about it.

This was my movie drive, so i can see my movies are there, bu i cant play them, they never start, and i cant copy the files onto my pc, they wont start to copy.

Is all my data lost? Is there anything i can do? I dont see a way to open the drive...

The drive is physically damaged and its likely to need expensive recovery service to get anything off of it. You will need to re-rip the movies you have or redownload them from where-ever you bought them. There should be no charge to redownload them.
