Laptop "Not connected - No connections available" Hardware or software?

I have successfully replaced the screen on my daughter's laptop and all is working well except the WiFi. I get the report "Not Connected - No connections available". My own laptop picks up about 6 signals including our own but my daughter's does not pick up one. The device manager says the WiFi adapter is working properly. My question is: Could this be a hardware problem - perhaps an antenna not connected properly - or is it more likely to be a software (driver) problem? Everything was working before I replaced the screen.

Sorry folks - I have just placed the laptop beside the router and got a strong signal which the laptop connected to. So I guess it is something to do with one of the antennae and I need to take it all apart again!
