So I am currently wanting to upgrade my visuals both monitor and my graphics card, I currently have a GTX 670 & Asus VS247H-P.

I was planning on getting an Asus PB278Q 27

and I was unsure what would be the best graphic card upgrade to make sure I maximise my visual potential.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Well, you don't have much room to improve. The GTX 770 for $400 is about 12% faster, and the $650 GTX 780 is about 30% faster.

In terms of visuals, then I'm sure you're aware you need to stick with an Nvidia card. Of course there's PhysX and several big PhysX titles upcoming: Call of Duty: Ghosts, Witcher 3, Planetside 2, The Bureau XCOM: Declassified, Batman: Arkham Origins, in addition to the current ones.

But the partnership between Nvidia and Ubisoft is putting a lot of new graphics options into some of their current and upcoming games, including: TXAA, Phong Tessellation, Phong Shading, and HBAO+. Splinter Cell Blacklist is already a showcase for these new technologies, but they are also expected to be featured in the upcoming games: Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs, and Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Thank you for that, I hadn't seen that comparison chart before, and I am now looking towards getting myself a GTX 690.

Yeah, I forgot about the GTX 690. I would love to have one of those. If your motherboard can do SLI, that opens up some more options, including SLI GTX 670's, or a pair of GTX 760's for $500, but as fast as a Titan. A pair of GTX 770's in SLI would also be nice for $800.
