No password box when trying make a wireless connection

My laptop will not provide password box for wireless network connection, it is on windows 7.

When I click on the network I want to connect with (or any other) a password box does not appear.

Can anyone help?

what does it say then? connects or not? what is the message that you see? to which network are you connecting? is that network secured with password?

Hi,

It is a normal home wifi connection through BT, but if I try and connect to any other network the same thing happens, so it is not a problem with the network. It is secured with a password, my girlfriend can connect to it without any problems.

When I click "connect" after I have clicked on the chosen connection, the right hand display which all the available networks are in just goes off and then nothing else is displayed.
