Can one take the backup image on a lap top use that to copy the whole computer to a desktop ?

I have an older laptop And want to transfer entire computer softeware , OS etc. just as is, on a desktop computer or another laptop from a different manufacturer.


I have back up disk image from laptop and rescue cd from laptop. I don't have any disks for desktop.

The backup image will only backup the Same device since it is an OEM-licensed OS. So no.
And if its and old laptop its probably worth getting a newer OS anyway.
