I bought sims 3 Island paradise expansion pack and when I put the disc in my acer laptop it says install the sims 3 to play. How do I install sims 3?

See I think your laptop don't have 3 sims before you inserted the disk and as you told you have bought 3 sims EXPANSION pack therefore it must be just an extension for 3 sims. So first of all install the original 3 sims then use the expansion

you have to buy the sims 3 first then install the expansion pack that you bought
