can i power on pc by using the reset button on my casing

HEY GUYS !
i think my casing power button is damaged, i need to press it 3,4 times and after thatt the pc turns on.
can i unplug pwr sw pin from the motherboard and instead plug reset pin in place of pwr sw and then using the reset button on my casing power on my pc ? IS IT POSSIBLE and SAFE ?

m having new motherboard of gigabyte h61m ds2 rev 3.o and new corsair vs650 psu

It should work, and safely. My power button and reset button are both the same, just with different imprints on them. I would think you could, but thats just with mine. Some are toggle and other are single press.

im having cooler master elite 430 casing.. and both buttons are in a small box with some space between them.. are they same ?

I have that case actually, so I know exactly what you mean, they appear to be able to work that way.
