I currently have 2 screens, (both 1080p) with one being used for full screen games, and the other for streaming TV, watching HD movies and other such things.

I am using a HD 5870 at the moment and have noticed it struggling when I am gaming and watching TV and so I am looking to upgrade. I have been looking at the Gtx 770 vs HD 7970 and I am leaning more towards the 7970 because of the 3GB VRAM that it has for my dual monitor needs.

I have also been weighing up getting the 770 4gb version and the 780 but would this be overkill?

So, gtx 770 2gb / gtx 770 4gb / or HD 7970 3gb?
Keep in mind that I will be gaming + using the other monitor for video simultaneously.

Thanks,

the hd7970 is a terrific card but the gtx770 is a tad bit faster. For your usage, the hd7970 would do fine. The gtx780 would have been a better option but it costs 2x hd7970. Get the $320 sapphire hd7970 oc model on special it would give you unbeatable price/performance

I would only recommend gtx770 4gb if you are getting them in sli. A single gtx770 lacks the memory bits bandwidth to properly utilise its 4gb ram. Only gtx780 and hd7970 can properly use their 3gb vram thanks to their 384bit memory interface.
