Hey guys, I really want to build my own computer strong enough to play upcoming games. It's been a long time and I've scrolled through Cyberpowerpc a lot.. but after googling, reading articles, and experiencing first hand of a desktop my friend build, I decided I want to build one on my own.

Budget wise would be around $1000, less is better. I have an old XPS 410 that cannot be use anymore so right now I'm only limited to my Macbook Pro. Thus a fast desktop would really help for future use as well.

So I read a good article from the Guardian about how to build a computer. I research the parts on Newegg and the total came out to be around $1000. Not sure if every part would match or if I'm missing anything. I've heard of overclocking recently, but I've never done it, not sure how to do it, and I would appreciate if you guys can tell me how to overclock without damaging the desktop as well.

Anyways, here are the parts from Newegg:

Processor: Intel Core i5 3570k Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
$220

Graphics Card: MSI Gaming GTX 760 2GB 256-bit DDDR5
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
$260

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
$67

Storage:
1. SAMSUNG 840 Series 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
$100
2. Western Digital WD Blue 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
$70

Motherboard: ASRock H77M LGA 1155 Intel H77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
$65

Power Supply: PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk III Series 750W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
$130

Case: Rosewill CHALLENGER Black Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
$50

Total comes up to $962 before shipping and taxes, which is right at my budget. Again if I decided to buy all of the parts it will be my first time building a desktop.

I would like to know if all the parts would work together, if I'm missing something, if there are better combination out there, if there are better deals other than Newegg, or if you guys have any comments or suggestions in general.

Thank you in advance!

The motherboard supports the processor , but not the RAM. Try this one : F3-17000CL9D-8GBXLD
Search that up, it's the RAM's model no.

It looks like the board would support the RAM to me...unless the voltage is incorrect. I forgot the proper voltage for RAM of the sort.

Anything over 1.5V is too high for Intel.

Hey IRONBATMAN thank you for your input. I checked the motherboard and it has 2 x 240 pin slots for the ram, so I think it should be fine. Regarding the extra fan, the case already has 3 fans and I don't really know how hot the desktop can get. I don't plan on overclocking it, but would if someone could suggest a safe way to do it since I am mostly gonna use it for gaming, not for software editing or that kind of stuff.

If you have the time, I don't really mind getting help in finding cheaper parts. The lower the price the better, but I don't want to sacrifice performance. I plan on buying Final Fantasy 14 online and play it on PC, so I figure a gaming desktop would be nice.

Hey thank you your website really helps. It's very easy to see things and figure out based on budget. By the way I see no fan on your website. Is the fan provided by the case enough to cool everything? I was looking at the case in budget build for under $800.

Hmm... Maybe I'm wrong but here's what I did if you wanna double check
( I used chrome )
Visit the Developer's website , Memory support list
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H77M/?cat=Memory

Search RAM model no.

Copy

Press Ctrl + F , paste into find in page search bar
