Dell Dimension 9200 won't start - diagnostic lights 2 and 4

My Dell Dimension 9200 won't start and I get the diagnostic lights 2 and 4. I get lights 1, 3 and 4 on startup, with no beeps, then the fan sounds like it's about to take off and I get lights 2 and 4. The PC manual says lights 2 and 4 means a problem with the graphics card - in my case an NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS. I've tried reseating the card but this makes no difference - I've also tried reseating the memory cards, removing dust and clearing the CMOS but I still can't get my PC to start.

Before I buy a new graphics card, I just wondered if anyone knew of anything else that might be causing the problem?

It was the graphics card - I replaced with a Radeon HD7500 and the PC works perfectly again. Noticed when I was taking out the old graphics card that the fan was clogged up with dust so I imagine it must have overheated one two many times...

Having the same problem on Dell 9100 with the same video card that I installed about 2 weeks ago now. Things worked fine until yesterday and upon trying to start it would appear to try to go to Bios? but something was failing. A workaround to this was flipping the orange switch on my power box inside the tower, from 115 to 230 (IIRC). It would then boot normally without any problems. Today upon trying to start it, it would do as Dannyc75's would, the fan would spin up higher than normally, no video output would be given, and changing the power wattage? switch would yield no change. My 8600 gts has been kept very clean over the years and has served well, in addition to being practically spotless before installation 2 weeks ago. Bios lights 2 and 4 are on also. Is my GPU dead? If I get it to boot in the mean time, should I run it normally? If that occurs I will post DXdiag.

Any help is greatly appreciated? :/

Here is my aforementioned DXdiag. I installed the Radeon card from a pc just received from a neighborly friend, but as you can see the 8600gts is much preferred, would like to keep that if possible.

Its likely you will need to replace that card also that can damage your computer and I do not recommed useing that to get your computer to start also have you tried removing the card and trying to boot?

I switched back to the card i was using before hand, replaced the nvidia 8600gts into the other desktop tower#2 i have, which runs flawlessly. Tower #1 works fine now but if there is a way to use the nvidia card in tower#1 that would be greatly preferred to the ancient radeon currently being used.
