Several months ago, I downloaded and applied a driver update for my Gigabyte GA-880GMA-UD2H motherboard. Recently my Norton 360 AV software started issuing a security warning for the compressed download file and wanted to delete it. Has anyone else seen this ? Is there a security problem with this driver ? Will I cause problems for my system if I let Norton delete this file ?

If you downloaded the file from a trusted site, than nothing to worry about virus/malware. Some anti virus software's sometimes gives this as false positive alarm. Scan the file with online scanners to be more sure that its not a virus. If you are sure enough than make the file as safe on your AV program, it will not bother you anymore. And use a decent anti virus program like ESET NOD. Norton sucks.

Don't worry about deletion of that file, it will not hurt you, as it is already installed. The AV will only delete the compressed file and not the installed file.
