3 months ago my PSU gave up on life... so I had to claim an exchange of PSU.. now that I have my PSU (replaced with new - same one) back when I plug in my R6870 hawk GPU my pc wont start.. it wont even get to boot it just lights up and does nothing... no *beep* or anything. When I switched my gpu to low end one (x550 ati old trash). It has no problem turning on? Could my r6870 hawk be faulty? pls help

power shouldnt be problem, this exact build aws working fine for 8 months.. then my pc started crashing so I assumed PSU would be the proble I claimed warranty. blah, blah got new one (exact same psu) and now when I try to turn it on it just doesnt. My psu has 520W

6870 and X550 have huge difference in power consumption. x550 will top at 75w while 6870 can exceed 150w since the card need two 6 pin PCI-E power connector. 520w should be enough but if yours is low quality one the actual rate might be lower than that. it might work at first but after a long period of time the PSU might having trouble because constantly push to it's limit

Yea.. but I mean like... I had R6870 before.. now I have x550 cuz my R6870 just stagnates. As in: I have 520 W PSU, my GPU has in its info min. req. PSU: 500W max. consump. 150 or so.. The R6870 build was ok for 8 months now it looks like when my PSU burned out it also took my GPU... And thats what I would like to know... if my GPU R6870 could be done for or is it again the PSU (which was replaced with new one exact same 520 W psu.. and I dont believe I could get 2 faulty psu's one after another -.-)
