Ok here is the story. I am new to building computers and plugged a wrong pin connector into pwr_fan1. Here is a picture of the damage. Should I be worried?

Okay, you plugged something that was hot into a fan header which is also hot and shorted it out. My guess is that it is toast.

So I should be worried or should I not be worried?

I would be worried as I doubt if it will work. Look at the caps and check to see if there is nay bulging or discoloration. In fact check the whole board. I'm not looking at the whole board, but my guess is that you may need a new one.

But everything works. the computer turns on fine and everything.

Okay. If that is the case, than all you lost was a fan header. Not an issue unless you need for an added fan.

Depends on the motherboard. Seeing as how you build tthis computer, I would imagine the motherboard has several Fan headers ( including the CPU fan header). You can also use a molex adapter if need be.
