Have a md2614 gateway laptop with cpu overheating issues. Have replaced the thermal paste with arctic silver, cleaned out the heat sync with compressed air, reseated everything, and bought a decent laptop cooling pad.. no go i hit 90c under load playing minecraft and seize.

Im going to start replacing parts, and need to know which is the likely culprit. Not sure if relevant but pretty sure the hard drive is failing as well.

So what do i replace first? Heat sync, hard drive, motherboard , or cpu?

Is your laptop fan spinning?

did you clean of the heatsink off and did you tighten in a x pattern when you attached the heatsink again if you tightened the screws individually could be the heatsink is on but not on properly
