Hard drive not showing up?

Ok I have recently upgraded my computer and now when I turn on my pc one of my storage hard drives does not show up, I have to go to disk management and scan for a new disk then it shows up.

How can I stop my computer from doing this and just get it to show up from boot

Does it show up properly in your bios?

Sometimes it does and other times it wont

If possible, try the drive in another computer. What is the make/model of drive and how old is it?

the Drive is a 466GB Western Digital WDC WD5000AADS-00S9B0 ATA Device (SATA) and is about 3 years old. i will try it on another system soon
