i bought a new WD Blue WD10EZEX 1 TB, as my old HDD is dying...i have few queries:

1. Any tips before creating partitions? As i hv read in certain forums that it's good to perform a low level format to a new HDD....Some say there's no need to format....

2. I want to install multiple OS....But there is a lot of confusion in my mind abt logical, primary and extended partitions....So i'm unable to decide how to partition..

3. My old hdd has bad sectors...But there is some important in it, that i want to copy...So, if i copy that data to my new HDD, would that data affect my new HDD?

1. No need to do a low level format to a new HDD, its pointless.

2. If you want to do dual boot or triple boot of windows OS, then install the oldest OS first, then the newer one, then the even newer one. Eg.( XP, VISTA, WIN 7, WIN 8)

3. Coping data from old HDD to new HDD wouldn't effect the new HDD.

NOTE : It is better to have a single OS on a drive, not multiple. If you badly need multiple boot then go with only two OS, not more than that.
