This is my pc - http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Docume...

I recently bought a 1920x1080 screen and an amd A8-3850 (with Radeon HD 6550D graphics). However, in the games I play, they perform exactly the same or worse, in some cases more lag is noticeable. Why is that?

I heard that apu's need faster ram to perform well, so could it be the fact that I only have 4 gigs of ram and it's only 1333MHz? Can my current graphics just not handle the 1920x1080 resolution in game? What else could it be?

Although my upgrade isn't the best, I should at least see some performance increase I would think, especially since I have a somewhat better gpu/apu.

What games are you playing? What were you playing on before?

League of legends mainly. I now notice a definite decrease :(  Before everything was low at about 50-60 fps. FPS is about the same now, but there is definite noticeable lag between when I click and when the character moves, although the fps is the same. If I change the graphics up one to medium, its horrible, 20-30 fps. What could be the problem?

Your RAM is the limiting factor here. I have the A10-5800K and 8GB of 1866@2133 memory. I had 4GB of 1333 for about a week before the 1866 came in and it was awful compared to what it is now. I was not happy with the performance in ANY games I was playing (Far Cry 3, Battlefield 3, Skyrim). I can tell you now that even with the 1866 memory, 1080p isn't entirely out of the picture, but even my A10-5800K struggles with most games @1080p even with 2133mhz RAM. If you/ anyone else would like benchmarks/help with this private message me.

Here is a video for some extra help and benchmarks with different RAM speeds.

Thank you very much. Would you say that being at a new 1920x1080 resolution has much to do with it? Should the a8-3850 be able to handle that or do you I need a better graphics card also?

If you are setting games @1080p then yes, it will have a very great effect on performance. The A4-A6-A8-A10 APUs are not necessarily designed for 1080p gaming. I recommend setting your games to 1280x720, and then working your way up until you get the performance/appearance spot that suits you.

About the graphics card, a new graphics card would help you a lot in terms of 1080p performance, there is something called Dual-Graphics that you might want to look into, depending on the games you play. If you would like to do that, I can help with that also.
