(TLDR at the bottom incase u just wanna get to the point)

So ive had this build I made for something like a year and a half now or longer. I had a bunch saved up from family gifts from the holidays and decided to pick out my own components and build m computer all by myself. Im used to asking for recommendations on parts for my build and putting it together. But ive found ppl in LA tend to not know what theyre talking about so I never get what I ask for.

So since I had plenty saved up and was looking around at all the best parts, I spent about 3-5 months collecting everything for my build.

This thing has been nothing but a nightmare, I troubleshot it with two IT guys and 2 very knowledgeable friends. Im trying to figure out what to do to get this build working better or what my goals should be and how to go about reaching these goals.

So for my very own first attempt at a build I decided I wanted a beast of a gaming PC that would hopefully last me for 4 years if possible, running the best games. My only wish was to be able to run battlefield 3 on maxed settings on 3 1920X1080 montors in nvidias 3D surround mode... So 5760X1080 in 3D.

I still am a newb when it comes to picking parts, and understanding all the specs but I get the basics for the most part, so I know what should work with what.

Anyways to the main point. Im in desperate need of some help with my current desktop to get it in proper working order. After that I need to figure out what my next upgrades should be for my $2,000 budget. I was hoping for 2 GTX 780s and eventually purchasing a 3rd if need be. Otherwise I was thinking maybe 2 GTX Titan cards. Then my next concern is RAM. But the main issue holding my computer back has something to do with my mobo I believe.

Anyways I have some very lengthy threads on here regarding all the trouble ive had with my current build please let me know If should post the links so you guys can see what ive been dealing with.

The last thing ill say is that my desktop cant run diablo 3 of all games on one screen with maxed out settings without running into bad framerate issues, I should be able to manage multiple instances of this game maxed out but it just wont.
I just want a very nice gaming computer that will last as long as possible and a allow for as many upgrade options as possible to keep it running games well for years to come.

So here's my build...

OS: Win7 64 bit Ultimate
CPU: Intel Core i7-3960X
Ram: 4 cards, 32 gigs of G.Skill Ripjaws Z 1866 Series, model F3-14900CL10Q-32GBZL, quad channel 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM, 1866 (PC3 14900) with 10 cas latency and 10-11-10-30 timing Win7 is only recognizing 24/32 gigs however
GPUs: 2 NVIDIA GeForce 590 GTX Classified cards
Mobo: Asus Rampage IV Extreme
SSD: 1 Samsung 830 Series MZ-7PC512D/AM, 512 gigs SSD
HDDs: 2 2tb WD Caviar Black Drives, 1 3tb WD Green Drive, 1 3tb Seagate Barracuda for extra space
PSU: Corsair AX1200
Case: Cooler Master HAF X Blue Edition
Cooling: Corsair H100 Hydro CPU Cooler in a push pull config with corsair link, lighting kit, and uninstalled Corsair Link GPU Nodes
ODD: Pioneer bluray burner
Monitors: 3 Acer GD235HZ series 3D Monitors

I just wanted to play BF3 in NVidia 3d vision to see how crazy it would be playing that game in 3d on the 3 monitors.
I currently need to free up room on my drives and install a legit copy of win7 I purchased since after troubleshooting problems for a bout a year and a half all I could figure out was the mobo was funky or that possibly the crack I used for my current windows ultimate is messing stuff up. So hopefully that will work and then I can install my sound card and start working around my budget on what upgrades I need. Im loving the arctic coolers they make for titan and 7 series NVidia cards, not sure what to do with cooling since my room gets too hot.

Sorry for the long post heres a quick TLDR:
I need help fixing my current computer so that everything is in working order, so I can then get advice on what to do to reach my goals. I want to run any upcoming games in nvidias 3d surround vision at max graphics for as long as possible with out having to upgrade again.

for starters... you should never try to crack windows. wipe your hard drive and start over with the legit copy of windows.

running 5760x1080 at maximum settings for the newest games is a real challenge. keep in mind that even at 1080p when the new generation of games come out they will absolutely crush current technology let alone users running 3 screens.

to put it bluntly... even sli gtx titans or gtx 780 can only manage 45-50 fps average in games like crysis and thats not even completely maxed out on the anti aliasing. the highs and lows range from 30-70. http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/08/06/nvidia_geforc...

honestly the only thing right now that has the best chance of doing what you want is the gtx 790 in sli. its going to cost about the same as the titans but should be faster. its a new card though so you may want to wait for benchmarks to come out.

you have plenty of ram (too much really but thats fine), your cpu is fine, hdds are fine....

dont like the AX series psu (HX is better) but the wattage is way more than high enough.

do memcheck on each of your ram sticks (installed one at a time) perhaps you have a bad stick. both win 7 64 and your mobo support above this limit.

GTX780 is better then the Titan price/performance wise, u basically get a GTXTitan tuned down a bit. So I would recommend 2 780's in SLI. Or just 1 690 or if you can, wait for the 790 or the Titan Ultra to come out

Thanks for the feedback guys. Did i say i re installed over the cracked version with a legit version?
Ive had to tell this story as time has gone by so many times it gets a lil twisted at points i guess you could say. Ive actually been so discouraged by the responses even on here that i gave up asking about my problems until for whatever reason i forced myself to make this last OP here.

If i remember correctly, i had a cracked version that worked wonderfully, still working on my backup rig, and another rig i use for music. No problems, never had a single problem with them and theyve been running for some 3 years now.

As for the legit version that was installed on a samsung 840 i have now, and the cracked version was on an 830 thats still hooked into the build but not used for anything. It was just so i could back and boot from it if i ever felt the need, but considering the last time i tried that i got a memory error which i believe was related to one of my 4 g.skill sticks being bad, idk if i can still pop into that drive.

-------
UPDATE:

Okay so just to keep this a lil more eye friendly heres some more info since i made the OP. I did some more memtesting and from what i can understand, i believe my mobo has a bad dimm slot (dimm thats the correct term no?) i would run memtest for at least 2 passes. I tested all the ram, had an error, took out 2 sticks, no error, swapped the 2 sticks for the 2 i removed and no error. So i decided to test 1 by 1, with no errors. Finally after going up stick by stick i encountered the error only when any stick i chose was placed in the following config...
the manual recommends to use slots B1 and D1 for 2 sticks (im assuming most mobos go like this) then for 4 sticks it recommends A1, B1, D1, and then C1. Now i have no issues atm running with B1, D1, and C1, but if i were to add my 4th corsair stick like i had, into A1 that is when i get the error. This reminds me of a similar issue i had with my last identical mobo using the g.skill ram sticks. But more to the point i received 2 errors last i did my testing, one was test 7 with no pass and under good it listed ffffbfff and bad listed ffffffff (no clue what this stuff means) then the following error in the same test session was again on test 7 but this time it passed or at least said 1 instead of 0. I have the rest of the info, but i wasnt sure what was vital and what wasnt, since this post is getting long as is :p

When i was getting my blue screens it was usually when i played BF4 at 5760x1080 with full settings at 60hz. I can run 120hz now in surround since i finally got myself a 2nd 780ti since the reviews i saw a while back were claiming nice framerates at this resolution for this very game /sigh but i had no clue how problematic this game would have turned out lol

--------
ON A VERY OFF SIDE NOTE:
(read on if anything corsair link concerns/interests you)
Well heres one odd thing that i dont think i mentioned. Im using corsair link, and when it works i love it, but when it doesnt it scares me lol. Currently running the h100i for my cpu, ax1200i psu, and the commander unit(the base unit) which is controlling the lightning nodes/modules, and surprisingly enough the cooling node/module. It seems like everyone including myself has had terrible luck with these products but i at least found a way to get em all to work and with evga precision x mind you XD

What i wanna do tho, is cut away from any software associated parts of the corsair link since it just seems to be problematic at best and id like to make sure its not causing me any issues. Since i love the closed loops setup, and have heard that the nzxt 280mm rad is a lil funky (i already hate nzxt as is) ive opted to go for the h110 from corsair so i dont have any software connectivity, im going to make sure the ax1200i is unplugged from the commander unit and the usb port, and then finally switch to a manual or mobo controlled setup for the h110 fans. So this way the commander will still control the LEDs, i can set them up how i like, remove the usb, uninstall the software and it will keep the profile i set for the LEDs.

if all sticks test fine 1x1 and all ports test fine except that one then yes sounds like a bad dimm slot to me as well.

as for how you feel about TH, there are plenty of knowledgeable and very helpful people here. however, pc fixes arent instant and you might need to post details a few times to various tests to come up with a fix. we arent miracle workers you know. since we cannot do the tests ourselves we need to ask you to do them for us (hence why i asked you to run a memtest and reinstall windows to legit)

we also arent very tolerable of piracy on the forums which is why many of the long-time forum users adopt that attitude. i'm sure you realize the need for us to be this way. in any case using a cracked version can cause erratic performance if its done wrong or if its bugged. also if ms picks up on it you are blacklisted.
January 15, 2014 3:42:54 PM

Yeah thanks for the heads up, i figured that was the attitude here. I have my own justification for the cracked versions but as bad as my luck is i wanna get legit on every build. Currently have this one, need another copy for my backup, and i wanna find a way to install mac on my 3rd build for music, but i dont even know where to start there lol.

Anyways, the reason i get discouraged isnt so much because i troll or act dumb. I guess its that i feel my only options are.... to in full detail describe my issue (and adhd and reediting my posts a million times before posting doesnt help) just to have no one respond. Plus i have no clue how the attitude towards bumping threads is here, i dont see em so i dont bump my own stuff.
So i either get that, or i write up a quick description of my problem, get a million questions (I always include my build info) and respond as i can but i feel the OP-Topic gets lost some times amongst the back and forth basic, "did you try unplugging it?"

Im exaggerating of course but still... and it doesnt help that i get super chatty some times when im on here like now for instance lol

--------
BACK TO THE TOPIC:

Alright anyways, so i should hit up asus..... again....? QQ this is the 3rd mobo where either a pcie or dimm slot went bust on me. Im starting to think i should get the heck away from asus. Ive loved their sabertooth boards but i cant imagine not having that error led on the mobo as well as the start and reset buttons on it.

Do you have any recommendations on a mobo upgrade for the future, i would think about what to upgrade to but when it comes to asus and my current 2011 socket cpu my only asus mobo options are different variants on the one ive already had go bad on me too many times.

I gave up on G.Skill even tho i love their ram for the very reason that they sent me a bad stick and when i originally started this build back when the rampage IV had just hit, it was gpu mobo issues, then ram mobo issues, and i finally got it stable after replacing the gpus+mobo and moving over to corsair vengeance.

Yet now i have a bad dimm.... lol i almost wanna just say screw it i dont need it, but i feel bad staring at this lonely stick near my keyboard begging to be plugged in lol

By the way thanks again, you have no idea how much appreciate your time and feedback, its been a while since ive had a good conversation regarding my build and its problems. Im too used to my online buddies trying to help when theyre in over their heads or not getting any help at all XD

honestly there is no excuse for a cracked version. that isnt to say that there arent plenty of users on here who havent been less than legit at one time or another. so believe me when i say that we understand it however its really not tolerated on the forums one bit so we tend to be harsh. if only to discourage talk about it before the mods find the topic and lock it. its nothing personal.

as for not getting an answer to posts... unfortunately that happens. if you post in a very busy section of the forum it could get covered up pretty quickly and someone who knows about the topic might not see it. you are correct we do not support bumping on this forum but if you bump the post with more details added thats a different matter. how do you think it must feel when one of the experts here asks a question on another topic and yet gets no answer when on a similar post by a new guy there are 4-6 people mobbing it? its frustrating since i know for sure i've seen a few people around with the answer in the past. however, its a forum and often a wrong place wrong time effect can happen. if just one of the regulars here takes a short break or if its a holiday it can be a huge backup on answers. remember we do this on our free time for fun so try not to get too upset if we dont get to you right away. just provide details and also what you've tried until you get a hit. if you dont then perhaps you posted in the wrong forum section.

--

you could hit up asus. if its a definite issue and its under warranty then may as well get it fixed.

i'm on an asus rampage iii extreme board from 2010 and its running great not one single hiccup. we have three asus laptops which are also working great. its a respected company so it shouldnt be failing that many times. perhaps something else is causing things to burn out like a fluctuating psu, fluctuating power from your wall outlet, etcetera. you arent overclocking or screwing with voltages are you? that can cause issues also.

addition: i just looked at the ratings for that particular board on newegg and its only 50/50. perhaps that particular model has some bugs and isnt as reliable as it should be? as far as what i can see people are either happy with zero issues or unhappy with a few issues. the black edition doesnt appear to be as badly reviewed but still has a few here or there.

honestly the 2011 socket x79 boards dont have many options to pick from. technically any sort of update to socket 1150 and haswell would be a move sideways and not really an upgrade. it also might be a downgrade in that its dual channel not quad channel (though the differences arent huge). you could try a different brand of x79 board but i do believe asus has the nicest features.

honestly i just used gskill for the first time in a recent build. great stuff with no hiccups. rather cheap too. for my own systems though i'm very partial to mushkin. getting a bad ram stick does happen... though if you've had this much trouble it could be that something else killed your ram stick.

is your computer behind an apc battery backup with power sine wave smoothing and surge protect?

your system is likely quad channel so you may want that extra dim. i'm not sure if the system will revert back to triple channel or not with only 3 sticks. if it does you could say screw it. if its under warranty i'd still get it fixed though.

honestly diagnosing pc issues can be hard. many times it can come from an unexpected source or sometimes a person can just be plain unlucky. i'm on my 5th hard drive rma (already $60 in the hole for shipping them back a few times) so i know exactly how it feels. the rest of my components are working perfectly though (knock on wood...)

RMAs are such a nightmare :p  after sending in my gtx 590s, one for repair, then replaced, then a 2nd for repair, then the mobo for repair or a replacement, then the problems with the g.skill ram, and i said screw newegg, screw RMAs ill go with amazon, and since i love corsair (corsair link aside) ill go with them and the same mobo. That way if anything was wrong i could send it right back to amazon and they dont care what reason i have for sending it back as long as i say something is wrong :p
So its much less hassle for something real, not being douchy like a friend of mine who ordered the wrong PSU and said it had a, "bad rail" sent it back to amazon for a full refund X(

Thanks again for the kind words of advice, i grew up on pbnation which was a forum full of paintball go hards, paintball enthusiasts, and modders/techies like myself. You either bumped or you sank lol. It always seemed to work out though, there was an obvious time limit on bumping but u could just add a bump with the text bump 6+ times till u got an answer lol. Not that thats how i expect normal forums to behave, i just liked the setup over there.

Yeah i was worried about the whole quad channel setup but RAM is where my knowledge starts to fall through the floor. Ive got the basic basics down, but i still dont know what it all means you know lol. For example my corsair vengeance sticks are 1600mhz i believe its labeled as. I just checked and it says its tested speed is 2400mhz?!?! I just know i read in some forum or manual :p  that i a lot of ram claims 1600mhz but is 1333mhz by default and needs to be upped to 1600. So the only thing OCing wise ive done is that. Im terrified to do anything else besides using evga precision to check the FPS based performance thing, where you tell it to up the card(s) to try and hit a specific fps.

Im still quite unfamiliar with anything OCing and very afraid to try anything until my system is stable and i know everything thats going on :p

Would you advise sticking the 4th stick of ram in the manuals recommended slot for a quad channel setup? I cant tell if i BSOD more with it installed, but i know thats when the error comes up on memtest, but i can still get a pass with the error popping up which i dont understand.

As for the power, im using an ax1200i hooked up to a monster power filter/surge protector/setup thing :p  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000PCVF3E/ref=wms_ohs...

I have a power back up for my build that i was gonna be using for making music, since its low on power consumption i figured that plus my drobo back up network drive setup would be best on the battery back up thing. Im still not sure on the correct terminology for the device but my friend told me to get one.
It says BACK-UPS 550 APC on it but it looks identical to this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
I was thinking of getting something for my main setup, but idk how id manage that running 4 monitors, a laptop, an av reciever, an xbox 360, xb-one, ps3, ps4, my tv, and my dvr lol. Not to mention my desktop lights and all.

I was also wondering about USB docks, i heard as long as theyre powered you should be good, i also heard too many things hooked up can cause problems. I stream so... i have 3 web cams i use, external hard drives, im a peripheral junkie so, 3 keyboards, 3 mice, a razer orbweaver and a logitech g13, not to mention mention the 2 usual headphones i swap between lol. I dont have it all plugged in at the same time but id say 75% of em are plugged into two of these that i keep powered and switch on and off accordingly...

honestly i've never had to rma with newegg. kind of funny since i've pushed 5 system builds through them. everything has always went smoothly.

i do have alot of respect for amazon as well. i always order on there and everything ships out damn fast. speaking of which i need to buy more movies from amazon with my gift cards. :)  i have what you may call an obsession (check my signature link if you dont believe me).

are you sure you want to go with the same exact motherboard? with that luck i'd probably try my luck on either the sabertooth or the black edition. at least then you cant say that you didnt try a different board.

bumping is quite prevalent on some forums however it can often get out of hand which is why the moderators and staff of tomshardware do not allow it. for instance i've seen someone bump their post every 20 minutes looking for a response. on christmas. you've got to be kidding me. that is why they do not allow "bumps" however if you bump it with more info provided its not frowned upon (loophole!)

single, dual, triple, quad channel explained. tldr: basically it allows faster access to more ram at once.
http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Everything-You-N...

without knowing what ram sticks you have i cannot say what they are rated for stock. it could be that your system is not set to run them at their maximum speed. i have no way of knowing without you listing your ram sticks whether they are 2400mhz sticks that you have running at 1600 or if they were just o/c and tested for stability at 2400. list your specs if you want details (or post a link to the product which is better)

no.. 1600mhz ram is meant to be running at 1600mhz however by default your motherboard may recognize them as 1333. this is easily changed. for instance the 1866 stuff i used the other day was recognized as only 1600 automatically so i had to up it to 1866 which wasnt a big deal in bios. keep in mind that for some ram sticks they need more power (some are up to 1.65v) to get the better performance. standard is 1.5v.

thats not really o/c... thats just correcting the auto detect speed.

it sounds like evga precision is o/c your graphics card. how far are you pushing that? if you go to far that could cause system instability. in fact if you push too hard and generate too much heat that might be why you burned out those graphics cards before perhaps. hard to say without knowing the details though.

yes, i saw the power supply and normally the corsair ax is a tier 1 (top rated) power supply so it shouldnt really have issues. however that doesnt mean there isnt a rotten egg in every basket. honestly at this point i dont think thats the case but i mentioned it to prove a point.

it looks like that monster surge protector has some sort of power smoothing though i'm not sure how good it is. still you would probably know if you had flickering power. lights would dim/glow, etcetera. if you, your parents or a friend has a multimeter you could test the power coming from the sockets just to be sure though.

yes that is a battery backup. its not much use for anything but running perhaps an xbox/ps3/laptop or something older on though with low power requirements.

i've got a xs1300 from apc (780w) and it will run my tv and pc at idle for about 7 minutes. about 2-3 minutes if i'm in game and it cost $160. keep in mind my tv is before led and so its a real power hog. no battery backup for any reasonable price is going to power all of that equipment at once. it could power a few devices at once (monitors + pc + sound) or (xbo + tv + sound) for a few minutes at most. basically what you want it to just shut the devices down properly. it prevents a full load hard shutdown which can damage components. it is not meant to run everything on. to run everything you would either need an expensive system or a bank of car batteries with an inverter (always an option if you really want to power everything.....)

usb hubs like the one you listed are not meant to use everything at once, they are meant to be using one, maybe two of the items at once but still having everything plugged in. think about it this way: park 10 cars on a 2 lane road. you can take two of them and drive back and forth really easy while still allowing the rest to drive if you park those first ones but if you try and drive all 10 at once you get a traffice jam. if you use multiples at the same time its better to use more smaller hubs than one giant one. of course if you havent been having any trouble so far likely you arent using it in a way that would be detrimental to performance. just listing what is best for performance. yes, you want a powered usb hub if its going to support multiple devices. some motherboards dont provide enough usb power or having multiple devices connected might draw too much power (so they might not be powered by just the port) so getting a powered one is a good idea. i'm just not keen on such a large one.

do you get any lag over your usb devices?
January 15, 2014 11:39:31 PM

Input lag over the hubs? No im playing battlefield 4 just fine with my mouse hooked up to the hub like its nothing, normally thats not my style but thats just how im testing this new mouse and pad setup for fun.
On strip has 2 web cams which are usually in use, otherwise its one cam from that hub and one cam from the other hub. One usb goes to my external hdd but atm im running both straight to my usb 3.0 since i was transferring files. I only use external drives for storage and transferring of files of course.

The only problem i can see is when i had 4 or 5 mice hooked up to one hub. All were technically in use but only 1 was being tracked or what have you as in actively being used. I stay away from that when i can though. Other than that i have a usb extender to a port of its own for the usual headphones, did i mention a regular stand mic always on one of the 2 hubs? Then i have another 2 extenders from the front usb ports, one for my flash drives since my desktop i put on a shelf i mounted up on the wall. The other extender reaches to the floor for my capture card.

All that and i still have 1-2 free usb slots available on the mobo. Ive had no problems using all the mobo usb ports, i even was using the nzxt usb header splitter so i could have my ax1200i and corsair link commander plugged in at the same time since the corsair stuff doesnt like each other i have to usb the h100i to that nzxt usb splitter which has 2 spare normal usb ports as well, then the commander unit plugs into one of those while the ax1200i i believe has to use another usb header on that splitter.

The whole corsair link setup is just god awful idk what they were thinking, it was a great theory, and went up in flames imo in practice. It seems to just work for what people expected 9% of the time :p  and theyre just usually trying to monitor their cpu cooler pump and fans.
But thats why im going to the h110 cooler, 140mm rads ftw and no software to get in the way, unplugging the ax1200i leaves it in the profile i last set it in for its fan, and the command would then just save whatever LED programming i have set for once i unplug it.

I get the basics of, triple channel, quad channel etc sorta i guess i just never really thought far enough ahead to realize that i was downgrading to triple channel when i dropped a card. What do you suggest i do? Like i mentioned the cards are set for 1600mhz but show as 1333 thnx to the mobo. I thought i mentioned the name and enough info for you to figure out the exact model with easy but heres a link.

As for mobo switching solutions if i can get away with the quad channel as is and figure out what that error is, or find out its not gonna be harmful to my components i might just wait till i save up and theres a new cpu+mobo setup i wanna shoot for. If anything i think id go for the rampage IV extreme black, but it just sounds like the rampage IV extreme BF3 edition which was identical to my rampage IV extreme mobo lol

I could down grade to the sabertooths that i love so much but the problem with that is that this led error on the mobo is so orgasmic i just cant part with it lmao, i will if i have to, but man i am so reluctant its bugging me! :p

Oh wow nice pix, im sorry but i gotta one up ya tho, ive been doin this to my ceiling for ages and ive got two storage boxes now to either put on a wall or replace bad cases with lol. You just totally made me spoiled nerd out tho! So ill post the photobucket link or w/e the second its up, i used my phone...

On a side note....
Oh and as for RMAing with newegg i had to do it once before and it sucked it took soooo long with my 590s or at least contacting them about it then getting in touch with evga, then having to do the same with the mobo. Like i said (from newegg tho) had to send in a gtx 590 for repairs, got it back in the same or worse condition, sent it in got it replaced, tried my other 590 in slot 1 of another build, then back in slot one of the rampage and had to send that 590 in for repairs and the mobo in since that pcie slot was straight jacked. No clue what could have caused that sorta of a problem. I had crashes upon reboots 85% of the time that would send me to the start up recovery mode that would fail 95% of the time, then when i noticed the pcie was messed i was seeing crazy fragmentation in windows and on memtest if u can believe it. I think i have a picture of the creepy ass smiley faces memtest glitched out with somewhere.
January 16, 2014 12:17:54 AM

EDIT: Oh and i forgot to mention when using evga precision i never got the gpu past 71 or 72 degrees. It seemed odd but i was only setting the target framrate setting to 120 and hitting apply, and most the time i believe i just cranked the fan setting to 100% but there could still be some or have been some confliction with corsair link since it likes to control the gpu fans too X(

http://s8.photobucket.com/user/sparktite/library/Random...

Well i my panorama photos didnt upload... damn u iphone!!! QQ lol but since i can only upload 10 pix at a time to facebook and 1 at a time to twitter i said screw it and went with facebook.... turns out even tho the album is public i dont have a share link nor can i access the album when not logged in lmao. So i made a photobucket album. Almost not worth it, but nice to get some updated pix of my room and what not out there. I stream and wanna get into bloggin so i enjoy throwing around links, vids, stuff i find, guides, video game stuff, etc.

So to clarify is this an acceptable bump? Since its not really a bump but more of an update?

EDIT:
Sorry was so tired when i was typing last night i forgot to include a link of the corsair memory i got http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

no you did not provide info on the ram sticks before this (all you said was corsair vengeance and there ar LOTS of different sticks in that series)
after looking at the product link though they are definitely 1600mhz sticks rated at cas 10. if your bios is not showing them correctly then i suggest you read this should be similar. basically just need to set the profile for ram. at most you would just need to type in 1600 if it doesnt do it auto for you:
http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?27272-Memory-S....

as far as the actual difference between single to quad in performance? its a huge jump from single channel to dual but after that it can be rather negligible depending on application. so its likely not a big deal however i wouldnt want the ram just sitting on my desk either when i have a motherboard which is supposed to support it.
http://www.legitreviews.com/ddr3-memory-performance-ana...

if you dont like the black edition then try the sabertooth. if you dont want that then go with a different brand. if you dont like those options then just stick with what you have. honestly it doesnt matter one bit to me. do and pick what you like. i just said that if you were going to be buying something then might as well try something new and different. at least then you can verify if it was a motherboard issue or if it was something else in your system causing trouble.

as for o/c the cards... well using the evga app should be relatively safe and those card temps arent too bad. however, its a variable and i would run barebones stock- everything and see if that fixes the glitching up. on a fresh windows install if possible. if you have a spare hard drive laying around just use that and disconnect your main drive. that way you dont lose your current system with all the installed programs. just dont activate the new version (just use it for the number of days MS gives you before requiring activation). see if you get any bugs, glitches, crashes. it could very well be a rather nasty software glitch which is causing crashes although it shouldnt cause any hardware failures (which points to something else or perhaps two things in combination). anyways... when unsure its best to work with the least amount of variables as possible.

i dont use photobucket or facebook. i use postimage and its wonderful. upload lots of photos, create links to galleries, auto creates thumbnail forum links. i highly suggest it.

you are correct.. that classifies as an update. its not a bump since it actually has useful information in it. mainly the forum just does not tolerate "bump" or "no answer?" or "anyone here? bump." type single line type posts. thats what they are trying to eliminate not actual bumping of a thread with useful information.

@photos
sorry but that would drive me nuts. while i certainly understand getting clutter now and again thats a bit much. i think a good reorganizing could do you wonders. just a thought though. it certainly does look nerd-lair-esque to me. do you only come out at night? (joking joking...relax)

why do you have dvds hanging on the ceiling? if they have disks in them then how do you watch them? while having them on a shelf might not be the best way of displaying the pretty artwork on the covers it sure does make it easy to pull one out and watch it. also i think i have quite a bit more disks than you do :)

i do like how you have your paintball guns displayed. i've got some toys like that but they are the more adult versions so i cant exactly have them hanging on the walls. thats not exactly good practice you know.

i can understand displaying trophies, models, or other fancy items but shouldnt they be up on a shelf out of the way or in a display cabinet? again perhaps my personal preferences. you may have noticed a display cabinet... thats where i keep all my such things. keeps dust off everything at least.

that certainly is alot of monitors (sometimes i wish i had multiple monitors... then realize that it really doesnt fit my usage patterns and the fact that i dont like tn monitors so it would cost me too much). is there a reason for the crazy amount of peripherals? i think if it was organized a bit more then it would be a bit more appealing/presentable. while definitely nice i think it should probably be cleaned up just a bit.

i thought about getting a rack like that for my console systems! however it would look gaudy and i didnt want that so i didnt. i also thought about framing the whole wall out and building a desk/shelving unit into it however i did not want to spend the money to do it considering this room is just temporary. in the future i will create a nicer space but until then i'm just keeping it practical. i even thought about cutting this desk down and using a media tower to the one side of the tv however i like my desk this wide and i'm sure i would miss it (though i wouldnt miss all the electronics stuffed on it!). i see you have a receiver on that rack... sorry but it seems the speakers for it are mostly lost in space :p

my setup works for me.. mostly watch media on console or pc with a bit of gaming and a bunch of forum hopping. one big screen works well for that. yes there are times where i would like multi-screen however i dont record games, dont use skype or other chatting agents and in general dont have much of a problem. now... i do have issues where i cannot play or have a chat room up on ps3 and access the pc at the same time. for instance some guy really wanted to voice chat about a pc build but i use irc to post links. i solved that by using my laptop for irc but a second monitor would have fixed the issue. not really a big deal to me though. oh well.

Sorry for the super late response been extremely busy and since i have fibromyalgia, insomnia, adhd, and this and that, and this and that lol its quite hard to keep up with some things especially when i get moody/depressed.

But yeah for the ram after doing a ton of reading and digging around and basically rebuilding my build from the ground up pretty much with the same parts and more and less :p  ive figured out quite a few things luckily. The really weird thing was after reading about why my bios was showing my RAM options as like 1337 and 1667 instead of 1333 and 1600mhz i read a post where someone said something like people having issues with some mobos where the overclock setting would just activate or after a reboot it would show up with a 103% overclock setting in the bios. I believe its the AI overclock tuner setting. It was set to default yet some main overclock setting instead of being at the 100% num was at 103%. Sorry its late and just took my pain medication so this is gonna be sorta wall of texty, very very sorry.

So anyways they said it was some sorta issue ppl have encountered and to set that setting that it was at to XMP, as soon as i did that i was able to get everything to show up as normal, some weird 1.47 voltage settings i spotted were back to the normal 1.5, and by default the ram went back to 1600mhz instead of the bizarre 1337mhz or what have you.
I thought the odd mhz before i found this out, might have been due to the 3 sticks instead of 4 sticks, as dumb as that sounds, but i was desperate enough to say hey maybe idk bs about ram cuz i dont and ill just stick the 4th stick back in.
So far memtest no errors, its still running tho and by now i would have had an error, so just waiting for that pass any minute now and then a few more cycles after i go to bed.
I also installed some samsung software for my SSD since i found that outdated firmware was causing people instability so that software has been a great help, so now im just in the process of that memtest and then gonna go back to backing up windows, migrating off this 840 to an 840 evo i purchased using the samsung migration software, then wiping the previous samsung for win8.
On a side note my kraken g10 showed up and i hooked it up with my kraken x40 for my evga superclocked 780 ti with the acx cooler, and its blown me away, leavin the base plate on takes care of a ton of the VRM and VRAM temp issues ppl have been worrying about, and i stuck some heatsinks over the bits on the base plate just for extra precaution, and all i can say is wow. I cant wait for my other one to show up, nzxt just cant keep the kraken g10s in stock its insane how back stocked or what have you they are.

Okay sorry back to the conversation, my only options without switching to another brand of mobo would be like you said the sabertooth which is a ntyvm last resort, or the black which is an also ntyvm wtf are you crazy im not gonna pay that much atm option so im sticking with this mobo till it kills me i guess lol.
Ill have to check that link out when im not so tired and out of it, but ive got all the 3dmark software and what not so ive been dying to run that now that the system seems so much more stable. I wouldnt know what software to run gaming wise to just have fun and semi stress test the build on a fresh instal tho, i wouldnt activate the windows ver, cuz idk what thatd do to the only copy of win7 i have that is registered lol.
But yeah it could be any number of things, i believe it to be heavily related to well bf4 for being evil and being the only thing i was doing computer wise last we chatted, corsair since i did some more reading and an unbelievable amount of ppl were having issues mainly what sounded like general instability issues/crashing/compatibility issues its just insane, so i found u can set it all up as you like it and then uninstall the software and its supposed to save your proile and you can then unplug the usb and run your system more stable. I ran into issues where the h100i fans kept forgetting their custom curve settings or just acting all crazy on me, so i went for an h110 since ive been wanting to move to a new case and go for all 140mm based rads since the whole nzxt kraken g10 thing came out since i pre ordered early decemeber and had spare corsair hydro coolers laying around from upgrading up each time till i had the h100i. So my only corsair link-able item now in my build is the AX1200i why i havent plugged in since i moved everything into my new case and setup. Ive got a corsair h110 and the pump is straight to molex and the fans are manually controlled, but i wanna move to mobo controlled and get that asus rog front base since i have compatible asus rog mobo and sound card since i found the sound blaster card i had gave me compatibility issues with the sound drivers, so every time i reinstalled video drivers due to an update or anything, i had to first uninstall all my sound card drivers and what not, then my mobo sound drivers, then install the nvidia drivers, then reinstall the onboard sound drivers, then install the soundblaster driver... what a F***ing nightmare!
So yeah h110 for cpu, one g10 with a kraken x40 for 1 gpu so far, basic acx 780 for the 2nd card, the asus sound card, got the 4 corsair sticks of ram and am loving it all setup in an nzxt switch 810 case which is lighter and so much better in so many ways compared to the cooler master HAF X i loved so much.

The dvd cases on the ceiling are just cuz i had an idea when i was little about this video game store i went to that had all its products on the walls like on my ceiling and youd just point at one and theyd give u the real copy, it was an awesome display so i just put mine on my ceiling using pushpins, 2 ea and they never fall down, all the games are stored in digital carousels or on the wals for recent dvds/games for friends to browse.

Since the way my brain kinda categorizes its tasks and attacks them i tend to go all adhd (fuly diagnosed adhd) on my projects or tasks, so i have tons of stuff going on all the time. I stream or at least was streaming till the rebuild of the PC, so i use specific headphones for that and different webcams you can see my keyboard mouse and keypad for playing. I was streaming diablo 3 heavily and having to hop between teamspeak, a vent i eventually got for my group of friends, raidcall since thats very popular with some people, skype since thats how i keep in contact with all my hardcore gaming friends and fans, something like raidcall that a friend uses that a friend of him convinced him to use because he sucks with computers and cant get his mic problems sorted out lol. I use a razer ororchi with a razer destructor 2 surface for shooters since its got the perfect size (tiny) and perfect amount of glide without much break in friction required for the mouse to get moving, as for the rpg titles i stick to the naga or cyborg depending on the layout or fatigue, and i tend to use one of my steel series glass or metal surfaces that are discontinued just for sheer smooth and sexy feel of them lol. I also switch between my g13 for shooters and streaming/chatting key binds, and my razer orbweaver for the rpg style stuff because of the insane level of key bind combos and that awesome mx brown mechanical tactile feedback it has. Then ive got my baby keyboard, since i rant and type way too much i love the chery mx blue switches for that mech keyboard. I even have a foot switch i purchased thats basically a midi on off spring loaded toggle that lets me use push to talk with my foot since it just gets way too confusing with all my normal gaming key binds and streaming, and multi chat programs to manage a key to use for PTT. Usually my stream is just open, one of my voip chat programs will be on a gain based non PTT setup and then my vent or raid call for my 1 or 2 buddies im playing a game with will be the PTT designated setup :p
But yeah the AVR is a must have for me, with the friends that i have coming over and the hardcore ps3/x360 friends i have/had i needed both especially or the ease of streaming games on those consoles, now with the xbone controlling my dvr and the ps4 being my new gaming console i have all the more reason to need an AVR. I love gaming and have tons of time on my hands, but lots of pain so i switch from hanging out with friends, to hobbies, to computers, to PC gaming, to laying in bed gaming (thus the consoles) plus those console exclusive games get me, i cant imagine not having the x360 forza titles, the ps3 GT titles, dead rising, kill zone, and halo just to name a few.
I have a wii but im not a big fan so i hardly play it but that, my apple tv, the new chromecast setup that ive fallen in love with, and the yet to be hooked up PC (audio wise) but hdmi straight to the tv as a monitor is still amazing. I couldnt imagine trying to manage all that without an AVR.

And as ive been typing my response, memtest 86 has passed its first test so far so good, better than before with al 4 sticks installed, wish me luck.

Oh yeah and the only thing i think i forgot to touch on was the multimonitors and my ADHD, for example, ive got one or 3 monitors for a game, usually running 3 monitors if diablo 3 is being nice, or if im not sick of bf4 crashing on me, then another monitor with a bunch of web browsing, then another monitor for music and stuff like evga precision x or just having my logitech or razer binding visible in case im getting used to a new setup, and then another monitor for all my streaming stuff so i can see my stream and make sure it and the software im running are all looking good. Then i usually have the stream up on the laptop too so i can see from the perspective of a viewer how the stream looks. I dont always have the laptop up for that, its usually for chatting with the streamers and the web browsing but i check in on the stream from the laptop all the time.

But yeah that was a mountain of typing lol, i think im a get back to working on my other computer and watching some adult swim while i unwind for bed. Its been nice chatting with ya, feel free to lemme know if u have any questions at all, and if i have any more ill be updating the thread, and i can post any updates if youd like as well.
