Looking at upgrading my system but I was hoping to save the cost of a CPU seeing that it still performs amazing

Current System :
MOBO Gigabyte 890FX UD5 mobo
CPU AMD 955 BE
Graphic Geforce GTX570
Ram 12Gb (2x2 & 2x4)

I have a decent case, 650power supply etc. the catch is the 955 performs great, but between the mobo/graphicscard/OS I have problems with my graphics card crashing/timing out and feel its time to upgrade.

Does it make more sense to

Upgrade the Mobo to newer AM3+(Asus Sabertooth or ASRock Extreme) and still use the 955cpu, use spare cash to max out with better ram(2x8) and top end vid card (780 or 690) and 850 power supply

MOBO Asus Sabertooth 990FX
CPU AMD 955 BE
Graphic EVGA (03G-P4-2782-KR) GeForce GTX 780 w/ ACX Cooler 3GB
RAM 16 or 32GB 1600

Or am I better off rebuilding with an intel i5 4670K and MSI Z87-G45?

MOBO MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Socket 1150 Intel Z87 Chipset
CPU Intel Core i5-4670K Quad-Core Processor
Graphic Dual (SLI) ASUS (GTX760-DC2OC-2GD5) GeForce GTX 760 2GB
RAM 16GB (2x8) 1600

Thoughts and comments really appreciated, wanted to go big but I just cant afford it and was hoping to get a bit more out of this case/CPU etc if possible.

Thanks

Well ur 890fx Ud5 board might take the new fx cpus, gigabyte shows some of them and just get a new gpu.

Also did u consider that the ram config might be causing ur crashing?

16gb+ of ram is pointless unless ur rendering/editing etc.

SLI 760s will beat a 780 so obvious choice is the intel build, but i think id rather go with a single fast card like a 770 or 780

Going with the sabertooth/extreme wouldnt be a bad option if the cpu was an fx one but if sli performs as well as benchmarks show the intel setup is prob best
