RAM doesnt work?

I just got a this computer:
i5 on MSI H61M-P31/W8 Motherboard
and 4GB DDR3 Memory.
Decided to add 8GB PC3 10600 IBM SDRAM
and it still only sees 4GB. I swapped modules but nothing changes.
Im running on windows 7 64bit
if i remove old 4GB and start on new 8GB it doesnt start at all.
Keep rebooting and i cant get into setup.
Now my question:
is the new 8GB module faulty or is there something i do wrong?

If so, it may not be compatible because I think that memory is "registered" memory.

Think Yogi may have it, much "IBM' DRam is ECC (registered) DRAM primarily for servers not for PCs, not many mobos support ECC DRAM
