I once saved a bus full of nuns and orphans while completing a life saving kidney transplant for a homeless child I found in India. Its worth noting that the kidney was mine and I performed the surgery on myself with no anesthesia.

i've heard about that.
As I recall, before the bus, you did land a plane loaded with supplies and vaccines for the third world countries, brushing your teeth and giving birth to the child of a Ella Fitzgerald lookalike.
It even appears that you have healed the baby of his progeria after having excluded Ben Aflleclk's fatherhood as the cause. Is that true?

I do not consider any act done out of self preservation or self interest as being courageous. I've witnessed numerous acts of kindness, I know people who act selflessly to better their community, I've worked with people who drew upon previously unknown inner strength to accomplish their goals, but I have yet to meet a person that I would consider as courageous.

Lol no thats not all true.... I didnt heal his progeria so much as after landing the airplane in hurricane force winds dropping the vaccines on the doorstep of every single sick child in the country, Jesus came down from heaven and said "That was the most courageous thing I have ever seen" we immediately High Fived over the ill child curing it of all known disease.

It was at that moment I realized....wait.... maybe none of this is happening and its just all of the mushrooms and ketamine I had been doing all week. Then something something blacked out and woke up in a homeless camp as their king.

Then what do you consider to be courage. And how would you see it in someone else?

Please note that I stated that I have never met anyone I consider as courageous.

I consider courage as acting against your own fears despite a possible physical harm, willingly entering into a situation knowing there is real risk and possible physical harm and still moving forward after having assessed that risk

I say that I do not consider any act done out of self preservation or self interest as being courageous because being courageous implies acting without giving consideration for ones self, i.e.; a stranger who runs into a burning building to save someone's life.

I should also note that I do not consider police, firemen, soldiers as being courageous simply because the are being paid.

Well said. However i consider police men firemen solders to be courageous. I mean would you put your life in danger for money or because it is your duty. Money is to small of something to live for. I would not lay my life down for money. I would lay it down for my friends and family and my God. So i salute them for doing there duty.

Probably being a single father and raising a kick ass daughter who started college this fall.

Though, soloing a Cessna 182 for the first time was a bit harrowing, I have to admit.

I wanted to add that you can only have courage or be brave when you are scared. It's a prerequisite.

Congrats on your daughters attendance into college. She grew up fst didn't see?!
Did you or her solo for their private certificate?

Depends on you, my friend.
Treating criminals in jail is courageous, or not?

At first I was going to say Wanamingo, because this kidney transplant was amazing (in addition, it appears that his own kidney has re-grown).
But the real answer is Jesus. :D

Don't know if I have ever done anything that required great courage, but certainly have made it a point to do what is right and help those who needed it. A buddy's sister was getting smacked around by her boyfriend, so he and I took him for a car ride in a state forest, had a nice little chat about the proper way to treat women, dumped him off miles from civilization, and he never talked to my buddy's sister again. I got into a number of fights in High school because these group of guys would always pick on this one kid, relentlessly. I started to make the kid sit with me on the bus with him close to the window so I was on the outside, and made it so they had to go around me to mess with him. Of course, bully's being stupid couldn't help but start crap with me, so after breaking my hand punching the one dude repeatedly in the face and chest and the subsequent week of in-school suspension for fighting, they "decided" to stop messing with the kid. Stopped this one pervert from trying to get some neighborhood kids to go into his house for candy, he moved several months later. Anyway, call it what you will, but I don't think those acts were courageous, just being a decent person trying to what is right.

kyle arn said:

When the boy realizes he is but a single person in a very large world, that no one owes him anything, that he must work for and earn his place, that it is better to do for others than do for yourself, stops making excuses and blaming other for his failures, and takes full responsibility for his actions. But that's just my $.02.

Who pissed on your cornflakes? You mock my response to a question I answered seriously? WTF?

I saved a guy from drowning after jumping off a jetty and breaking his neck.( He's still paralyzed to this day from the neck down), if it weren't for me, YES ME, HE WOULD BE DEAD!
Everyone in the jetty was pointing at him but nobody did shit. I did you JERK ! I paddled over and I pulled his head out of the water. His lips were losing color and his eyes were rolled back in his head...All in 8 foot surf!!! I pulled him in when I got to where it was shallow enough to stand a friend that saw what I was doing and came for the assist.
My sister knew his friends from college and I was asked to go see him in the hospital. I went there and his mother gave me a big hug and father tried to give me a envelope for saving their son. I refused it and said all I did is what decent people are supposed to do.

Someone asks a question and I answer it seriously and your sorry ass takes it as a joke. F U!!!

Ban me and it'll show you're nothing more than a $.03 biatch!!!

Like apples? Howz about them?

Hmm .... not a bad effort ... I give you a 6.8 for genuine empathy.

As a shrink I have talked lots of people out of suicide and 20 years down the track I am still not sure If I did the right thing most of the time because from a sustainability and recycling angle I probably should have encouraged them.

You probably should have tried a twist ... the half pike was well executed but the entry was messy.

Next loser ...

Sir there is no judge of courage. And i would prefer it if you would respect our story's. And if you have a true story of courage i would love to here it. If not i would kindly ask you to stay silent. And that goes for any one. I don't want any lies just to make yourself look good.

My most courageous story was when I rescued a woman being stabbed by her deranged husband in the street (across the road from a rental I once had in Kelmscott) with a carving knife.

I tackled him to the ground with only my South Adelaide (go the mighty Panthers) footy shorts on and my steel capped boots ... getting cut a few times in the process.

It was 43 degrees ... flaming hot !!

Then a few of the other neighbours chipped in and sat on him after I smacked his head into the concrete a few times (physical as opposed to psychological therapy I am better skilled at) to subdue him.

Then I took a shirt off a passerby and started the apply a few bandages to her arms and head to stop the bleeding.

When the cops arrived they tackled me to the ground and cuffed me and threw me in the paddy wagon.

At that point the neighbours and the woman had to explain to them that I was the guy trying to help and the other guy on the ground (being sat on by two large chaps) was in fact the butcher.

I was covered in a lot of blood so I kinda understand.

Anyway the ambos arrived and carted her off for a few hundred stitches and a few pints of blood and I went to the station (in the front seat of the paddy wagon) to make a statement.

Then I went to the Dr's for a few bandaids and stitches and a couple of jabs in the butt for greeblies.

The guy went back to the mental hospital.

All in all a good day but I was pretty sore from the jabs.

My new hero is of course beachnative ... he has ballz.

True story ... in hindsight it was pretty stupid as I was a Uni student working security at nights with a wife and two kids under 5.

I didn't think through the consequences that might have happened but I was damned if I was going to watch some guy carve up a defenceless woman.

Reading the Bible, I came acorss many men who questioned whether God was doing something right, but prevailed no matter through faith,( Job comes to mind). Fatih and courage are seperate ideas. I have faith God will lead us in a path of success and love, but I have courage to stand against those who try to kill me in the process.

Diffrence. That is what I beleive kyle is saying.

What about the rest of us who like PC's, women, beer, motorbikes and cars A LOT MORE than god.

It gets a bit boring.
