Laptop touchpad and external mouse not working

So this is a very strange problem. So what happens is when I boot up my computer my external mouse and touchpad works fine. After a while my external mouse stops working and the lights on the mouse turn off. Then my touchpad generally still works but sometimes works but glitches all over the screen and sometimes wont let me move it. Also windows says that the usb device is not recognized and windows will keep making the unplugging noise. Not constantly but every once in a while randomly. So how do I fix this trhanks in advance.
