how do i figure a good car?

well.. my friend is trying to buy a car and he is asking me to figure which one is the best to buy. but even i dont have idea. we can find a lot of brand model car in the market but we want such car whose price value is ok and affordable plus great feature too. plz suggest me to make a decission.
