Ok so I ordered some Patriot viper 3 4gb ram from newegg with 20 dollars in rebate but in the newegg page it says the offer expires the 9/15/13. Does that I mean I have to mail it in by the 15th?

You have to mail it in by whatever deadline they set. Might be the 15th, might be later.
Somewhere in the MIR instructions is the actual date.

And personally, I despise mail in rebates. If you can afford to sell it to me for $20 less, then do that. Don't make me jump through hoops.

Why should I loan a billion dollar company $20 for a couple of months?

Man I agree. Rebates are such a ripoff, I cannot believe so many people are willing to mess with them. The only reason companies even offer them is they are betting most people will not bother with them. Costs them more than $20 to process a $20 reabate. Yeah, just give me a good up front price, and I'll pay you for it. Done deal.
