Dropped external HD ,, RIP ??

Hey guys , i dropped my external hd , now it makes a clicking sound and my latop cannot recognise it, although the lights flash on the HD , the hd recognises its trying to connect and says it cannot recognise it ,, is it dead ,, if so can i retrieve the data off it some how , the hd is a Toshiba mq01abd100

The clicking sound is not a good sign -- commonly called the click of death as the read/write heads slam into the stop continuously. You can try using Recuva, but it is not likely to work if your drive is already toast.

External drives rarely survive if they are dropped while running, they do much better if they are dropped when not powered up.
