Trying to install a new cooler

Hi everyone, Recently I bought a new quad core processor. My current fan cannot sustain the heat of the new processor. I tried to buy a new fan but i wasn't able to install it because i cannot insert the push pins, my previous fan had some kind of metal plate welded to the motherboard. is there anyway for me to upgrade my cooling system without buying a new motherboard?

It has a LGA 775 socket, I don't know how to check what kind of motherboard it is.

The model should be printed on the board. What CPU cooler trying to install?

The motherboard is an acer and there are multiple numbers but the closest one to the acer lable is G43T- AM
I'm pretty sure im just supposed to remove the small pegs attached to the backplate but i don't know how to do that

Have you tried unscrewing them?

Im worried that i might break the motherboard if i try something like that

You don't have to apply too much force. Use pliers and try easily unscrewing them. If working, OK, if not, I suggest asking a local shop for assistance.
