Hello!

I dont have much money at hand but my system is getting annoyingly overwhelmed with what i want to do.

i have 2 displays and like to work/play games on the primary while i watch streams, youtube videos or whatever on the 2nd, right now i often have to stop the stream while playing to get acceptable FPS in games (on low settings...)

Here is what my system was last month, before i started upgrading:

CPU: DualCore AMD Athlon II X2 255
CPU Cooler: The boxed one (pretty sure)
Mothderboard: AsRock NF6-GLAN
Memory: 2x Aeneon AET860UD00-25DC07X (2x 2GB 400 mhz) + 2x Corsair XMS2 CM2X1024-6400 (2x 1GB 400 mhz)
Storage: 500 GB Samsung 502IJ
Video Card: Gforce 9800 GT (1 GB GDDR3 ram)
Case: generic case (nothing special, not sure)
Power Supply: hec-400tp-1wx (400 watts, ATX 2.2)
Optical Drive: ASUS DRW-2014S1T

This month i used what money i had and bought an 250GB Samsung 840 Evo Series and 2000GB Seagate Desktop HDD ST2000DM001 64MB 3.5" (8.9cm) SATA 6Gb/s and switched my 500 GB Samsung completly out, so the system is right now:

CPU: DualCore AMD Athlon II X2 255
CPU Cooler: The boxed one (pretty sure)
Mothderboard: AsRock NF6-GLAN
Memory: 2x Aeneon AET860UD00-25DC07X (2x 2GB 400 mhz) + 2x Corsair XMS2 CM2X1024-6400 (2x 1GB 400 mhz)
Storage: Samsung 840 Evo Series
Storage: Seagate HDD ST2000DM001 2TB
Video Card: Gforce 9800 GT (1 GB GDDR3 ram)
Case: generic case (nothing special, not sure)
Power Supply: hec-400tp-1wx (400 watts, ATX 2.2)
Optical Drive: ASUS DRW-2014S1T

My following plans are to buy a new case tomorrow (because then its on sale): Aerocool StrikeX One Advanced

And more importantly next month i plan to Upgrade my motherboard + RAM as following:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3
Memory: 2x8 TEAMGROUP Vulcan DDR3-1800 (or any "good and cheap" 2x8 GB DDR3-1800)

my idea behind this is that my CPU is - if i remember correctly - socket AM3+ and in my actual board slowed down due to my board beeing AM3. And my SSD isnt completly useable since my board now has SATA2 only... so my thinking is that its most efficient to upgrade my board right now as i can keep the CPU for now...

and in "the long run" (as in as soon as i manage to get enough money) i plan the following upgrades:

(kinda in the order i see the most importance)

PSU: AEROCOOL GT-700 (EN53983)
CPU: AMD FX-8350
Graphics:gforce GTX 760

i built a system about 3 times in my life (for friends), never put so much paranoid thought into it and the systems i built worked (/are still working) but i'd appreciate any tipps because... yea, im paranoid especialy about the mainboard and would realy appreciate tipps that can improve my hardwareunderstanding/ability to build good systems.

i hope i did not forget any important infos, if so please let me know :).

Thanks for reading all that!

thanks for the answer :).

a little explanation for my understanding maybe, please :)?

PSU: is 550 watts realy enough?
i was aiming for one with efficiency 90%+, not worth it?
i tested 2 Watts-calculator web programms because i was unsure and those suggested 650+ Watts (ofc you changed the RAM, mobo + CPU so... still: is 550 Watts enough to support everything + multiple USB devices like keyboard, mouse (g500), G35 headset and have spare energy for tempoary USB devices?)

CPU: is the 8350 to good for the system and would just bore itself to death or why the downgrade :)?

mobo: okay... as mentioned about the mobo im completly unsure... reasoning against Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 or pro 970? (i guess we are talking about Asrock 970 Pro3 Rev 2.0 ?)

memory: 8 GB? im at 6 GB right now and often reach a critical usage... my thought behind 2x8 were: easy upgradeable if needed at any point since 2 slots are still free and im allready sitting at 16 GB ... as well as i feel like 8 GB would be too less (much programms running, much tabs etc) and 4x4 GB would force me to resell / put away 2x4 if i need / want to upgrade at any point... ?
1800 and 1600 mhz = not much difference i guess?

Cooler: Yea, totaly forgot that... thanks for the suggestion, its noted! :)

anyone who can help me here, please?..

@AMD Radeon
im not even sure which mobo you mean? by 970 i can see multiple ones (f.e. 970 Pro3, 970 Pro3 Rev 2.0, Extreme3, Extreme4 and so on...)
i'd realy appreciate it if you'd have the time to go a bit into my questions above :)

a little additional one: since my case has USB 3.0 on the frontpanel i need a motherboard with INTERN 3.0 USB connectivity, right?

oh sorry i didn't put any explanation before

PSU: AEROCOOL GT-700 (EN53983)
is bad PSU, trust me

PSU xfx 550W >> it is enough. very popular and the best bang for the buck
fx 6300 + mobo 970 + 2x 4GB ram ddr3 1600 >> fx 6300 is the best bang for the buck for AMD cpu line up, unless you do really want 8 core that is rarely used
gtx 760 >> yet another the best bang for the buck card
cpu cooler 212 evo >> yet another the best bang for the buck cpu cooler, very popular

Thanks, but in danger to repeat myself: which "mobo 970" are you refering to? why 2x4 GB DDR3-1600 instead of 2x8 GB DDR3-1800?
