So I have around $450 to spend on upgrades

Heres my current system:

Core i5 750
gtx 660ti
8gb ddr 3 ram

So I bought a custom cpu cooler so I should be able to overclock my old i5 a bit. However I am not sure if I should oc and buy a 770 or if I should upgrade cpu and mobo to i5 3570k and stick with the 660ti.

Thats why I need your opinions. Also one thing to note, the 770 comes with batman arkham origins, a game I planned to get anyways so I would save some money there.

If you suggest something else for upgrades please say so. I also cannot do sli on my current mobo before people suggest that.

Really? From what I have read haswell has alot of of heating issues and oc capabilities compared to ivy is non existent. And it has already been confirmed intel won't use the same chipset for their next gen cpus in 2014 so its not like I have an upgrade path there. So I don't see any reason to get haswell.

People said the same thing of Ivy compared to Sandy Bridge, yet now Ivy is held up as a gold standard compared to Haswell. Unless you intend to overclock beyond 4.3-4.4Ghz you wont really have any issue.

New chipsets arent anything unusual, Sandy Bridge had three mainstream chipsets (P67, H61 and Z68), Ivy introduced Z77 and H77. Haswell now has Z87 and H87 as well as its business oriented B85.
The socket would remain the same. Also in terms of upgrade path how is Ivy the better option? Its already a dead socket.

If you upgrade and look some save.
Here is one good option. Buy Intel xeon 1230V2 or V3
In EU xeon 1230V3 is cheap. In USA the xeon 1230V2 is cheap.
Both are really good and fast cpu. They are just like 3770/4770 they just do not have iGPU and you can NOT OC them. Still they have HT + 8Treads. And price is same as the 4670k and 3570k . No need for huge cpu cooler or OC able mobo. Really cheap deal.

I say get either an i5-3570K if OCing will be done above 4.3GHz. Else get an i5-4670K if OC's below. And for mobo , get an ASRock Z77 Extreme3/4 for the 3570K or the ASRock Z87 Extreme3/4 for the 4670K.

What do you mean ? My ASRock Z77 Extreme3 hits 4.4GHz with ease and games too. had to stop due to high temps but thats not mobo's fault right ? And cooler than died ( H80i ) I can bet ASRock's Z77 Extreme3/4/6 is the anyone's pick for any fairly priced Z77 mobo which decently OC's. What proof you have that the Z77 Extreme4 is a poor OCer. And even if its , get a Gigabyte Z77-UD3H or Gigabyte Z87-UD3H.

If there is option to make choice between Gigabyte Z77 D3H or Extreme 3 Id take Gigabyte in hurry. Maybe it was more issues with Pro3 /4 Is it same thing with 87 chips? Just a tought but those are better when no OC is used. So they must be xeon mobos :) not for (k) cpu mobo :D

My ASRock Z77 Extreme3 hits 4.4GHz with ease and games too.

Can you post me a intel burn test + real temp result after 15min?
How hot it gets? Just want to know :) Xeon gets 60 C with air cooler.

Like I mentioned , I have a dead H80i in RMA , so can't post ATM. For normal tests , I get 53 under gaming ( average ) and 85 on burn tests. Going to sleep , will post quick.
