So, I bought a HP DV7, i7/8gig ram second hand from CEX. Yeah... I know. (beats audio).
I'm taking it back to TRY and get it fixed, but they'll do a system restore, wiping all my data.

I need a harddrive to backup and store movies/games etc. Mainly to backup data to begin with.
Between 1-3gig, under £100 would be great also usb3, any ideas guys? Thanks.

I've looked at about 100 different ones, but there are too many options to even filter them down to 10.

WD My Passport USB 3.0 in either 1 or 2TB size. Just be sure to always safely eject it and don't just unplug it. And best to run it along with your computer on a UPS if you have any power outages or power quality issues, as USB drive data is easily lost.

As I use a laptop, with a surge-protection plug socket, I doubt I'd need a UPS, would you opt for http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007UOW818/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=computers
or a stores online checkout for a few pound more?

I found that out the hard way with an external power supply harddrive. Knocked it off the computer desk, and hit the corner. Luckily it only broke the case. Thanks.
