PC freezing on start-up, and random freezing

This is my setup:
cpu - AMD FX-8350
mobo - gigabyte 990FXA-UD3
ram - 16gb corsair vengeance @ 1600mhz
gfx card - gigabyte GTX 560 Ti
power - antec 900W high current gamer
harddrive - WD 1TB black
Windows 7 pro 64bit

Yeah my computer seems to be freezing randomly on startup, it gets to the Windows icon with the spinning circle and then freezes, this happens often but not every time...
It also freezes randomly when I have a few programs running say 2 or 3 so not much..

I have tried swapping the Graphics card and the RAM but have had no success

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

You can try this: one by one
Check the cable of your HDD if it is the right cable and slot and everything inside your motherboard.
Update BIOS.
Re install Windows.
