Upgrading my old XP desktop (Asus P4t533) and wondering if I should go with a DIY tower-motherboard-processor and keep my components (HD, DVD, floppy) or just grab a pre-configured close-out desktop from Dell or hp (Win 7/Win 8 upgrade). Definitely want to keep using my two-DVI monitor setup, and may want to do occasional video editing. Integrated sound ok. And any thoughts on AMD v Intel?
Thanks!

Yeah lets make diy tower. Floppy we do not use anymore. No mobo supports it anymore.
But you can use dvd like a floppy. But no one reallu uses dvd anymore. So :)
windows is booted now from usb and it is faster install that way.

So my suggestin is 3 monitors. Intel for sure.
Did made you buld. How this stricks you? Did put in DVD but leave it away since you have one :)

No, video editing actually will be occasional use. It will mostly be my main PC for web design/dev when I want to take advantage of the dual display. So it doesn't need to be a beast of a workstation, but I do want it to be fast.
