9600GT, looking to upgrade card but not MB etc...

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card as it seems to not keep up well with today's games (Tera, Defiance, and of course the way more intense ones). The problem is I'm stuck with a PCIe 1.0 slot on my MB. I have a AMD 64 2.8ghz dual core Processor and a 600psu. Also sitting on 4gb ram. I tried the Radeon HD 4870 but if anything the graphics were a tad worse or about even with my current card (not what benchmark rating on the net said would happen). I'd like to stick to the lowest price range possible but in the end just want to avoid having to upgrade my entire computer.

You are really at end of life for that machine, and you know it.

Strongly consider an AMD A10 APU on the new FM2+ platform. I think you will be very happy.
