New gpu -No signal displayed from monitor

Hi I would like to have assistance with my computer as there is currently no signal displayed from the monitor.
My specs are "Asus CM6730-UK004S Desktop PC (Intel Core i5-3330 3.0 GHz,8gb ram , 500HDD,
DVD-RW, Wi-Fi ,6-in-1 card reader, 2x USB 3.0 ,windows 8)"
Psu :Corsair builder series CX500 Watt ATX
Gpu: Palit gtx650ti boost 2GB Gddr5
My old gpu GeForce gtx 240 displays but the Palit gtx650ti boost won't display.
Just to be clear the Palit gtx650ti boost works on my brothers computer fine.
Also my graphic card fan spins.

When the card is in your brother's machine will it display on your monitor?

Did you completely erase all the drivers for the old GPU? Then install the new one, then install the drivers.

No I haven't but that shouldn't be the problem as my brother didn't have to erase his old drivers and there was display on his monitor at the incorrect resolution.

Is there an LED on the motherboard next to the PCIe slot? If so, what color is it? If it is red there is a hardware fault. If it is green, then you should at least try to delete the old drivers and install the correct ones directly from Nvidia's website (not from the disc that came with the GPU).

The LED is green so I'm going to try your method but that shouldn't be the problem as my brothers PC received signal from the gpu straight away
