he guys, im just wondering what you think would be the better option the i5 4670k or the i7 4770 this is strictly for gaming purposes. is it worth having the k on the i5 when i can get a i7 with already more performace?

definitely go for the 4670k. it is much more future proof(when your pc sttarts getting slow, just overclock) and its gaming performance is literally almost exactly the same as the 4770. if you only want to game, the i5 is the best option you could get. the i7 is more for workstation/video editing work.

Idea? That is just better. Xeon is cooler. Cheap. have TH + 8Treads.
Lot faster than 3570k and OC do NOT make any sence. Because there is cpu that is in stock speed as fast as the 3570k and 4670k. Takes less wattage you name it. You do not need expensive OC able mobo. Regular cheap mobo will do just fine:)

have you ever compared the 4670k to a xeon cpu in an actual gaming fps application? there will be at most 2 or 3 frames difference. as far as i can see, i am the one with the gaming expert tag.

And OC makes 5-9FPS difference. Do you really want to spend 100$ more for that?
Big cpu cooler to OC and OC able mobo. No. Spend it faster gpu.
That will give you better FPS than any cpu can.
You get much more better build with xeon. more silent . Because it so much cooler.
Your cpu fans dont need to run 100% when you play game. With desent cooler 30% fan speed is enough.
And full no fan operating is possipble. With cooler like this.

a gaming motherboard will be better for gaming anyway. you do not spend much more for the k. the point is that the 4670/4670k is the best cpu for gaming while not being too expensive. a good gpu/cpu combo is needed. one will do nothing without the other. i am not saying overclocking is that great, i am saying that the best gaming performance to price is the i5 4670/4670k. the xeon or i5 is 100% pointless.

you obviously do not understand that this will be for gaming. workstation parts are %100 pointless for gaming. again, i do not see a gaming expert badge on your profile.

You do not know what you are talking about. Now do you?
What is gaming MoBo? You can game any mobo what is good for your build.
Lets see. Is this gaming mobo?
http://extremespec.net/gigabyte-ga-b85-hd3-motherboard-review-design-testing-performance/3/
Can you game buildlike this? Sure you can. And it do not matter is there xeon or 4770k or 4670k. Xeon is just cooler. cheap and better buy than 4670k or 4770.

So if you want rock solid stable quiet build then xeon is good way to go
Put your money to video card. GTX 780 or 680 are really fast cards for gaming.
I do think this is best way to go. Build like this. Then you get most out of your money.

xeon is WORKSTATION/VIDEO/SERVER class cpu. it was NOT designed for gaming. you can be as ignorant as you want, but honestly i am far from surprised that you do not have any badge. despite being here for a while. if you want to edit video, get a xeon/i7. if you will be doing workstation work, get a xeon/i7. if you will be running a server, without a doubt go for a xeon/i7. but for gaming, it is 100% overkill and a waste of money. the i5 series is the sweetspot for gaming, and specifically the 4670 series. why spend extra for a xeon processor wheen you could just get a 4670/4670k for less, and it will run exactly the same. as you said, if you overclock, you can get a 10 fps difference for only a bit more cash. so why spend so much extra on a i7 or xeon?

actually you do not know what you are talking anout.
Same chip as the 3770 /Xeon 1230V2, 4770 /xeon 1230V3
Only thing you wil lose is iGPU. AND that you will NOT NEED in gaming build!
So if ou have 100$ more cash. Fine. But put in build same price that I just did.
Big SSD and large HDD and OC able mobo + good cpu cooler. And how much is that?
No need for cpu cooler. But if you do like silet working build. Then it is good to have one :)

if xeon is so cool, why get a cpu cooler for it? you obviously know very little about computers. get the 4670k for the same price, and a newer 1150 asus or gigabyte mobo.(asrock is fairly unreliable)

it is very funny when someone is already pretty ignorant, and then still constantly make mistakes is what he says. the 4770 and the xeon 1230v3 are completely different chips. just stop trolling and go to some other forum. xeon was designed for servers and workstations.

parts should be used for what they are designed for. that is a business mobo and a business cpu. get a gaming cpu and a gaming mobo and it will run better for gaming. this is like grade 1 logic. why is it so painfully difficult for you to understand that?

No trolling here. Did you look this video? Did you undertand what did he say?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcB1BIyJ5j8

Same thing with 4770 and xeon 1230V3. look intel ark.
http://ark.intel.com/products/75054/
4770 http://ark.intel.com/products/75122/
and look mobo support for that cpu.
http://www.gigabyte.us/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=4566
all xeons are supported :D actually seems like you are troll :)
I'm willing to go so far as to buy a xeon processor 1230V3 out if it NOT satisfy you for any reason.
This deal is for OP maker only.
I guarantee that it will satisfy every way.
Excl Overclocking.

if they are exactly the same cpu, why do they have different clock speeds? you are just too ignorant to understand aren't you? gaming parts are desiigned for GAMING believe it or not. workstation parts/server parts are designed to be used in SERVERS or WORKSTATIONS. business parts are designed to be used in a BUSINESS. business/workstation/server parts were not designed to be games on. this is so simple. why do you struggle to understand so much?

Because intel do make cpus with difrent clockspeed cpu. Just like i5
Here. Is there difrent clock speeds with 1155 or 1150 cpu?
http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/cpu/#m=21&c=4
sure there is. That is why. If you can look bit deeper that that you will find out that is really good buy.
Here. 3570k http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80637i53570k
Here xeon. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80637e31230v2
At same price. is better buy i7 or i5?
And look this again :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcB1BIyJ5j8

Sure if you want to OC this is not for you. But do you really want to OC? And burn your cpu and mobo in a year? Or do you want more silent build with same performance and for less wattage used?
This will save your money.. because the electric bill is reduced.

Lets make bet. You did say you have same chip. Now what is it?
3570k or 4670k? make untel burn test with air cooler 15min @ 4.5GHz. And post result.
Here is xeon 1230V2 result. http://i.imgur.com/zqIhw.png
And this is air cooler and gaming build. 7950 and 8GB memory and so on..

as far as i can see, the i5 is cheaper. you should really verify what you say before you say it. i am the gaming expert here. you are far from a gaming expert. i will let the author choose who makes more sense. i think you have to be pretty darn slow to not understand what i have been saying for my last few threads. BUSINESS PARTS ARE NOT MEANT TO BE GAMED ON. its pretty simple really.

you obviously are pretty thick. why do you think it is lower power? it has less processing power.

I have had this arguement with others before. They dont understand that the E3 xeons are basically i7s.
