Asus RT-N66U wireless router detected my Verizon UML295 usb modem but I still don't have internet access. My gateway laptop detects the wifi with a strong signal. Part of the information on the Asus GUI provided includes the verizon dial-up(?) # as #777. Not sure what that is. Internet options set to auto detect ip address. Proxy server unchecked. What other parameters should I be looking for?

I appreciate that but that's right off the asus support web site and I tried it long ago. Still not working. I've spoken to verizon and I've spoken to asus support. Neither helped much. Best advice was to upgrade the FW on the wireless router but that still didn't help. Unless someone has a better solution, I'll have to conclude this asus router simply doesn't support this particular modem.

Find out from the ISP what settings you need for the router to use the modem. You need the router to connect to the cell modem data service before you worry about the wifi connection.

I have that router and never even knew is supported broadband modems. Then again I spend all my time hacking it up with dd-wrt.

This is the list of supported modem I can find on their site.

The patch notes for newer firmware indicate more support for other dongles but I cannot find a list. I am going to bet if auto does not work and it is not selection list it is not supported.

This is a very common issue with broadband modems. They still tend to be very non standard and the router manufacture must have custom drivers for them.
