So, come Christmas or sooner I am going to be buying 3 new monitors for my rig.
Price not being a huge concern.

I am looking for:
the best resolution possible.
Great color quality.
Very fast response times.
Borderless, or as near to borderless as possible.

I am easily going beyond 120 fps in most of my games.
As a result 60hz tv screens just dont look, or do what i want. I need at least 120hz.

Displays have never been my specialty. So I come to you guys.

I imagine my rig will have another gtx 780 in it when I make this purchase also. So I know it more can handle most displays.

As a side note, How would a series of HD projectors look? This might be a good solution as well. Buy some white panels as my "Displays" mount those. And Have some Projectors. Are there any projectors even meeting what I am looking for?

More about : monitors fast response time great image quality

I'd actually like to hear what you have to say, as well, Shindo. So please don't keep it in private messages :[

After doing somewhat-extensive research, it looks like the Dell U2713H is a very good monitor. 27", 6ms response time, IPS-panel and fully-adjustable as well. It's not the near-borderless type of screen that Tyler is looking for, but I think it'd definitely be one to look at if you're reading this, Tyler.

EDIT: Projectors are great for sizes larger than standard monitors will get you. But the projectors function on projection of light, and therefore will generally be slower, have less-vivid colors, and the black level will be worse than most monitors. Plus you'd want to be in a windowless, lightless room to get the most out of it.

Yeah, the border on that is just to huge! I want a "seamless" multi-monitor setup.
And I dont know man, maybe I dont know all that much about projectors but http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
things like that even look like they offer more contrast than most monitors. and it has some great refresh!

Horizontal Refresh Rate
15K-102KHz (KHZ thats like up to 102000 hz refresh? or I just dont understand projectors that much haha)

Vertical Refresh Rate
23-120Hz

but projectors are $$$$$ so I wouldnt be able to get 3, possibly 2. Any1 know how projectors work on curved surfaces? 2 projectors on a semi circle setup would be just amazing, if they provide the image quality and refresh I am under the impression they can do.

I totally understand the multi-monitor setup. I wanna do that, too. Either three screens in landscape mode for NVIDIA 3D Surround, or four screens in portrait mode for the same effect.

Anyway, first off I'll say I haven't done any research on projectors at all. I'll only tell you what I know from very limited experience, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Aside from what I said above about projectors, I think that horizontal refresh rate might be a little bit of a marketing scheme. Just like many monitors say things like "1million:1 contrast ratio" and such, those are "dynamic" adjusted numbers. No consumer monitor (or very, very few) at this current time have refresh rates much higher than 3000:1. But yes, a 102kHz refresh rate is equal to 102,000 Hz.

However the vertical refresh rate is somewhat on par with monitors, so maybe it's a different type of thing. Some projectors work on angledsurfaces by having a way to stretch and skew the picture, mostly becuase the projectors have to be propped up on a table or such. I'm not so sure they'd work with curved surfaces, but that'd be pretty interesting to have two projectors setup against a U-shaped wall to have a 3D-like surround :] If you end up going this route, please do leave another message about how it turns out!

So I have been really getting interested in the projector research because, honestly todays monitors can look amazing...until you try to use more than one and realize how terrible borders are things just dont feel right.

Had a friend get 3 real nice monitors, had me come look at them, and he says they are great, he loves them, and I am sure he does. But first thing I see is the massive borders on each screen making things for me...unplayable. He just said you have to ignore it and it is manageable...yeah right.

I cant seem to find any monitors that really deliver what I am looking for. A seamless, HD experience to really get an immersive feel. I found this for a nice 8k or so...not happening.

So...I'm going with projectors i think... 2-3 1080p Projectors will cost around 2-3k. Still expensive...But If can get that working Nicely on a good round disply/canvas. i know you can get TRUE seamless display with it. And the quality as far as i can tell is just as good,
if not better than most desktop monitors.

Sacrifice Some pixels for immersion and an experience a monitor(s) cant reasonably dream to deliver...

let these pictures inspire you guys to help me get this working haha

THIS MIGHT BE THE ANSWER
At least, this might be enough proof that the technology exists to do what i want.

So...now to research and find out...HOW

you'll need a monitor. The best overall monitor right now is the Dell UltraSharp U2713HM. ... monitors, but nothing can determine a monitor's image quality better than your own eyes. ... Unfortunately, a VA panel's response time and input lag are not quite as fast as a TN ...
