Hey i resently got an (HP Envy H8-1414)
And baught a new PSU (ThermalTake SMART M850W)

My computer works fine with the stock PSU but when i replace it with the thermaltake it powers on but the fan (on the motherboard) makes a weird noise and the screen doesnt turn on. there is power going to my mother board im wondering what can i do to troubleshoot or maybe fix this problem. or if they are even compatable with each other?

Problems i ran in to:
The power connecter on my motherboard is a (4 prong) connector and the one on my power suply comes with (8 prongs) that can be split in half (4+4) so i tried connecting each of them and powering the computer on. Neither of them worked. should i buy an adapter for 8 to 4 prong?

Any information would be nice! thanks again guys

I do have the 24 pin connector connected to the mother board, when I turn the computer on the power button just keeps flashing blue non stop.

It is possible the PSU isn't performing as it should. Do you have a digital multimeter availabe that you could test the thermaltake with?

If you do, follow the link in my signature. You'll find a guide on testing PSU voltages.
