Hi all

I've just purchased a Corsair CW430 PSU to go with a Gigabyte H61M-USB3H (micro ATX).
For the CPU power the mboard has a 4 pin socket but the power supply has an 8 ping plug.

Can I use the 8 pin plug (first 4 pins)?
Can I buy an adaptor?
Should I return the PSU.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

The plug should split up if you pull it apart into 2 4-pins, usually.

Hi jimthenagual

Thanks for your reply.
The plug is one piece plastic so it wont spit cleanly but it does plug into the socket with 4 pings over hanging. The wiring looks like it is effectively two plugs. But I know nothing about electronics so I thought I'd better check.

From what you're saying it is effectively two plugs so I should be able to use it as is.
Just let the unused pins hang in mid air?

So that's what I did and it seem to be working fine.

Its a 4+4 pin so it should split apart like jim said.

Normally they slide up to seperate.

Only one side should fit into your 4 pin.
