A little more in the way of details would help.

If it's a laptop like a lot of the others I know of, you can access the recovery partition using the small circular OneKey Recovery button (a little arrow on the button, position will vary depending on the computer). Turn off your computer and hold this Recovery button to power on. Once you boot into this partition there will probably be an option somewhere to "reset to factory settings". This will reset the entire main partition where all your stuff normally goes to the factory settings it came with. This means ALL of your files and ALL of your settings will be erased/changed back to factory defaults, so be sure to BACKUP YOUR DATA. It could take 10 min-1 hour, after which the software will essentially be as new as the day you got it. Although if your problem is a hardware issue it probably won't do much to help it

**This was actually with a Windows 7 laptop, but I'm fairly certain it would be similar with windows 8
