Network stuck at 10mb full duplex

Hi, I have started uni and I have bought a 70mb package and I only have an enthernet port which I connect my pc to it via the cable, I am getting very very slow speeds as the network or port is stuck at 10mb full duplex and when I change it to auto or 100mb full duplex it will not recognise the cable via Ethernet, I have contacted ask4 the company doing the supply for the connectivity and they said it might take a week or two to get an engineer to sort it out. But is there anything I'm missing or that they might have missed out to resolve the issue? Ps I am using windows 7 and have tried 3 enthernet cable.

Have you tried a newer ethernet driver for your PC? If it's a built in ethernet port, it may have gone bad in which case you can try a PCI network card.

Downloaded new driver but not working and before I came to university my pc ran fine at 50mb download speed at home and not it's stuck at 10mb full duplex

If you are sure your drivers and ethernet port are working, it's possible the other equipment may be set to only run at 10Mb/full in which case only your tech guy can fix it.
