A Dell U3014 Monitor to be delivered this Thursday. I can't wait.

I will use it mostly for games (Arma, Crysis, Farcry, BF, totalwar..etc) at 2560x1600 native resolution and I would like to have as much visual eye candy as financially feasible - it won't kill me if I have to settle for "high" instead of "VeryHigh" system spec in Crysis 3, but it would be "best to have".

Secondary usage would be photo editing / RAW conversion (Photoshop, DXO Optics) and video (Premier) processing. My camera generates 36MP RAW files that takes DXO forever to process. GPU acceleration would be helpful.

Currently I am using a EVGA 670 FTW+ 4GB version. Thought of going SLI by buying another , only to find them discontinued. I would likely move it to a 2nd gaming machine system that my family uses.

I don't like the GTX690 for some strange reason. That leaves me with these options:
Going SLI with 770 (like the EVGA SC 770 4GB or 2GB versions) for $800-900
AMD 7990 (seems like the drivers are now working???) for ~$700
A single EVGA GTX780 OC ACX for ~$660.

I am currently using using a i7-2600K based system in a huge tower case, with a 850Watt Crusair PSU.
So I should have enough power/cooling headroom for the solutions I am thinking about.

There will be 2 PCIE 2.0 x8 slot available. Not 2 x16 slots but I don't think that's a huge deal. Probably would only upgrade to a X79 class platform when I can see a distinct performance advantage over the cheaper client platforms.

You might as well just find another 670 FTW on ebay, you could even cram another one in. x8 x8 is just as good as x16 x16, refer to the plethora of benchmarks and videos proving such. Full specs? ttp://www.ebay.com/itm/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-670-FTW-w-Backplate-4...
