Hi Guys;

I am an avid gamer, and i have pre-ordered an Xbox one, have put down about AU$500 towards it. Im just not sure what microsoft's angle is though, i have read a lot about it, and with their chopping and changing of policies, and the fact that most of the features they have touted are not even going to be available at launch, i have decided to pull my money out and focus on PC gaming for the foreseeable future. Some of the games i have been most looking forward to are Destiny, Battlefield 4 and Titanfall.

I plan to upgrade in about 10 months to a year, i have a goal saver account setup that should have about AU$2000 in it by then. I currently have the AU$500 from my XB1 pre-order. I have been looking at the GTX770, which i guess will give me the immediate bump in frame rates that i desire, with the view to SLI them further down the road? i have also found a couple of GTX570's on Ebay, for around AU$150. However they are different brands.

So, would two different brand GTX 570's be compatible for SLI?
Or, should i get a GTX 770 now, and hope that a year down the line they are still available when i do my upgrade?
Will my PSU be able to handle GTX570 SLI

MY current rig is:

I5-2500K (still stock)
8gb corsair RAM
ASrock extreme 4 lga 1155
Silverstone strider 750w psu
MSI twin frozr III GTX570

thanks guys

P

Coming from someone who's run a 570 SLI setup on 750W with a 2500K, I'd say it was a great setup. There wasnt a game that I couldnt run on max settings on one 1080p monitor.

Two different brands of GPU's are fine and will work fine together, just dont forget the SLI bridge lol. The thing about using dual-gpu setups though is that your SLI setup wil only use the lease amount of VRAM you are running.

So, say you run a 1280mb GTX570 with a...idk...4GB card, the SLI setup would only use 1280mb max.

2 570's is faster than a GTX670 and approaches a GTX680. Its definitely a fast setup.

And if you have the power cables for the 570, you should be able to run it. If you have the amperage, you should be golden.

Deemo thanks for the answer! i think that is definitely the way to go then.. i will keep the money i save towards my big upgrade next year and go all out then, im stoked that i can get away with different brands, i should be able to pick one up without too much hassle for relatively cheap.

my psu is modular and i have plenty of spare cables, so that wont be a hassle.

thanks again my man
