Doesn't weem to be going very well for them ... funny bout that.

Given the recent BP Macondo incident, most companies have beefed up security and safety on their production platforms, and incorporated changes in their maintenance systems to apply strengthened Process Safety Management principles. The entire industry has carefully examined itself.

Rigs can be dangerous places even for experience staff working on them due to all sorts of factors ... exploration drilling, shutdowns for repairs / servicing / the environment, the list goes on.

Fire is always a clear and present danger ...

Rigs are not the place for activists to wage some sort of protest, because they place themselves in a really dangerous position, and then, by where they are, then place the operations staff in a position where their safety is compromised trying to make sure these people don't get hurt.

If they want to protest do it at the company office ... if they want to take photos of the rig do it from a couple of miles away.

A couple of months in a Russian gulag with toothless Igor muttering next to them in a cell about which cochroaches taste the best will make them better people ... at least they are still alive.

Plus how many of them had their CSTP and BOSIET ... probably none.

I'd not like to be on the surface of the water under a rig ... hungry things swim around looking for leftovers ... or idiot activists.

Hopefully they won't get prosecuted as terrorists ... but if you try to disable these sorts of plant and equipment that is what you are ... plain and simple.

Save some whales and annoy the Japanese ...

Well no they have a place in the world ... we just don't want to be rescuing them all of the time.

I believe in freedom of expression etc ... just not when it brings others into danger.

Im not really sure what they expected.... I mean the Russians arent exactly known for being forgiving and lenient. or hell even listening to their people. So why would they think Russians would give a sh*t about a bunch of foreigners protesting arctic drilling.

Maybe we should start some sort of group to protect green peace volunteers from themselves.
