Hi everyone,
I just recently built a new PC for the first time. Here are my specs:

ASUS Maximus VI Hero motherboard
i7-4770 CPU
800W PSU
GTX 780
2x8gb DDR3 ram

Whenever i plug in the GPU into my motherboard the computer just reboots. And when it boots up again there would be nothing showing on my monitor while the computer is still running.

hi again tradesman.
Here is my PSU http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003O8J12S/ref=oh_details_o03_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I just installed the chipset drivers that came with the motherboard. as for my BIOs, im not really sure if it needs to be upgraded. How do you check/upgrade it?

And i've plugged/unplugged and checked multiple times for any loose cables. My computer would reboot literally the instant when the GPU sticks into the PCI-E slot, with or without the power plugged into the GPU.

I just turned everything off. By resetting the CMOS, if it was to just remove the battery and put it back, i did that. after turning the system on, with the GPU plugged in and its power cords firmly plugged in, the system reboots after 5-ish seconds and now it stays on but with nothing showing on my monitor, not even a flash screen.

I just updated to the latest BIOS and my monitor still isnt showing anything with the GPU plugged in. :(
But it seems the computer was still running normally while just the monitor isn't working. I dont think there's any problem with the card because i plugged it into my 3 years old Alienware laptop and it recognized it just fine. any ideas?

1.)test your gpu to other computer...if your gtx works on other computer, then the problem is in your pc...
2.) it could be outdated bios
3.) your pcie x16 slot might have a problem..loss contact
4.) psu might not be delivering enough power to your gpu...check pci power connectors if it fits well..

I had this problem with my 9800 GT, I did fix it a few times by cleaning it up internally, but, in the end, it just doesn't work anyway.

the problem is obviously your motherboard, psu or maybe your mobo has compatibility issues with your gtx...

I just plugged a VGA cable into a VGA-to-DVI-I and plugged that into my GTX 780 and this time it finally showed video. But under device manager it only reads it as "standard VGA graphics adapter" instead of GTX 780. I tried rebooting and uninstalling the driver but nothing worked. Any ideas?
