I recently built a system with:
i7-3770K stock settings
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP4
G.skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600 4x4 GB
MSI N650 PE 1GD5/OC
Samsung 840 Pro 256GB
Win 7 Home Prem 64bit SP1
I loaded the MB drivers supplied on the MB disc, installed the lastest Nvidia drivers and installed Norton Internet security which I then updated. The next thing I did was to start updating Windows.
The computer blue screened during the process. I wiped the SSD and reloaded the OS, drivers, NIS as before. I started installing Windows updates a few at a time. The computer again blue screened and has continued to do so. I tried loading updated mobo drivers but it won't accept some of them saying it's not an acceptable system. The SSD firmware has not been updated.
Stop codes suggest it's a device. I can't find the %SystemRoot% file or directory to send the info over to 7Forums.
I'm about to wipe the SSD again and reload. I was going to get the most recent mobo drivers from the Gigabyte site. I was also going to update the SSD firmware after reloading the OS.
Any thoughts? Should I flash the mobo to the latest BIOS?
