I finally got all my parts together and finished my computer. When i went to install windows 8 I noticed HDD was not being detected. I opened up my case and my hard drive was not vibrating or making any sounds. I looked at bios and the device is not being detected there either. I've tried different Sata cables... but nothing. Should i just RMA? Here's my build for reference.

Nope. And there's nothing wrong with my power cables since they work with the case fans.

I don't have anything else to test the SATA power connectors with. Is it really possible that the 4 SATA power cables i have aren't working while the rest of the PSU is working just fine?

Just checking: did you change any of the jumpers on the HDD? You should NOT change them on a SATA unit - you don't need to, since there is no Master or Slave. Moreover, on some drives there is on jumper setting that makes the drive appear dead! So, IF you changed jumpers, check the maker's website for the default setting and restore that.

Thanks for the help. I've come to the conclusion that the HDD is dead on arrival and sent it in for RMA. In the meantime I'll use an SSD.
