i have just recently installed a motherboard and cpu into my computer. when i turn it on i get the error code 0x0000007B. i know that you are supposed to install windows again and when i try to do this the cd is not coming up as an option to boot the computer. what do i do?

ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard, that is the motherboard. and when you ask for what ports im using you mean on the board right?

Are you using SATA 3 cables (the ones that came with the board) for connecting the drives?

no im not using those cables, should i? and im going to try setting SATA to IDE now

Yes, you have to use those cables. Turn off the power before switching the cables.

i just realized what the problem was,the board i have is only a SATA board where as my hardrive is a IDE hard drive so i have to get a IDE to SATA converter.
