I know this question has been asked before and I know the 690 scores better but hear me out. I currently have a 690 and I am going to be building a new rig. While the card is great it does have its draw backs like on 4 gigs of vram, some games arent sli optimized, and the fact that it uses a more power and is nearly 2 years old now. The card that I have now is only a few months old however so I can still sell it and get something like a titan.

Even though it will be a downgrade Im thinking in the future Ill add a second titan and have a really powerful set up, more so than if I had a single 690. I know that Nvida is rumored to be releasing a 790 or a titan ultra early next year, But I wanna get something now because when those cards are realsed the re sale value of the 690 is going to go way down.

So what would you guys recommend? Sell my 690 and buy a titan an then later on another and sli them? Or stick with my 690? Also would I even be able to run 2 titans? My current build:
Case: Corsair 650
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth z77
Powersupply: 860w But I can upgrade to 1000w if its nessicary.

I also considered 2 780s but its just something about the Titan that I love, wether it be the name or just the peice of mind of having the fastest single gpu at the time of this post :)  Anyways, Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Honestly it is hard to recommend titan when 780 able to perform as good as titan for much lower price. IMO even with the upcoming radeon i bet titan will not going to have price drop though i could be wrong on this. Right now titan only makes sense for developer that want to play around cuda before put their commitment on to get more pro oriented cards like quadro or tesla. Gaming wise titan did not really have anything much to it compared to 780 other than being slightly faster. So personally i heavily recommend you to get 780 over titan.

So should I sell my 690 to buy a 780?

the choice is yours. personally i would keep that 690. most triple A games will no doubt got SLI support. as usually there will be some rare cases where triple A games (like Company of Heroes 2) does not get SLI/CF support. also 690 are one of the most efficient gpu nvidia ever build. the card perform only slightly behind 680 SLI but it consume a whole lot less then 2 680 in SLI
